Eddie Lacy has apparently moved up in the draft quite a bit.

So does that mean that Barrett Jones and Jesse Williams will most likely not be first rounders? Not surprised, but I was hoping they might get into the 1st round.

Well, there are 32 spots in the 1st round, correct?  So I'm guessing these 23 guys are the "sure things".  They probably don't want to invite people and then have them not get picked like last year (Upshaw?).  Then the story becomes all about how XXX came to NY but was passed over.  Now there will be 9 different stories about how a guy wasn't invited but still went in the first round.  So you end up with 9 positive stories instead of a handful of negative ones.

Lacy made a big splash in the BCSCG, but most analysts don't project him in the first round, where few RBs are selected.

There has been at least one RB taken in the first round every year since 1963. Most experts agree Eddie Lacy is the top RB in the draft. His chances of going in the first round are very good.

I believe Lacey goes later 1st round. If this is so he will get a better team to play on. RTR!

Lacy's Pro Day workouts today weren't great.

Well, his measured times were unimpressive (just as one example his 40-yard dash time is the 15th fastest among draft RBs).  Not horrible, but they didn't help his case.  He also didn't finish the workouts for the scouts.  One scout said he was out of shape and unprepared.

Now, how lenient and understanding they are with that with him coming off an injury remains to be seen and will be largely subjective I'm sure.

Anyway, I've seen nothing coming out of his Pro Day that suggests he helped himself.

Ingram went #28, and I don't see Lacy going higher than Ingram did.  So it will be close, either way.  I'm still thinking early second round.

The mock drafts I have seen all show him going late first round. The highest I have seen is to the Bengals at # 21. They need a RB bad. Green Bay and Atlanta have late first rouind picks and they have a need for RB. I would like to see him go to one of those two.

The thinking by NFL executives has changed dramatically over the years. Used to be several RB's might be picked early in the first round, but that has pretty much changed, same goes for WR. Now, the early picks are DB's, LB, LT, & QB. A great DL prospect can go early, too.
