Title: Softball One of Top Academic Teams in 2012
Post by: pmull on October 31, 2012, 03:45:01 PM
The 2012 Alabama Softball team is a winner. Both on the field and in the classroom.

Quote
“To win a national championship is one thing but to finish seventh academically among all Division I softball teams is another incredible achievement reached by the 2012 team,” Alabama head coach Patrick Murphy said. “The team GPA of 3.56 was the highest in our 16-year history.  I think this shows that you can win big on the field and do great things off the field in the classroom.  This team definitely had their priorities in the right place.”

I pulled  up the complete Div I Softball Team GPA rankings which listed only the top 91 schools.

Here's how the SEC did.

After Bama at # 7, MSU and USCe were tied for 34th place.

Missouri was 50th, LSU 82nd, and Fla. 85th.

Tenn. and Aubarn didn't make the cut.

This lets us know how far we've gotten ahead in recruiting quality individuals who just happen to be outstanding athletes.

I noticed we were the only SEC team in the Top 10. I was wondering how the rest of the SEC did. Now I know. Thanks.
