I thought he was supposed to announce on the 13th?

I have a friend who is good friends with Trevor's family...he's been Bama for a while.  He was probably at 6-8 games or more this year.

Awesome.  He might not announce until the 22nd, but if he was there today in my mind that is a big tell.  Plus I don't think CAG frees up some schollies unless he knows another guy is coming.  Why not keep those 2 guys on the team if we have room for them?

I go to the gym with a big Kentucky fan. He thinks T Lacey is going to Bama. He's like me, he does not know anybody but he reads everything he can. He says all the KY boards have him staying at home and signing with us.

Last I heard from my "source" - a friend of Lacy's dad - Trevor was wanting to wait and see if Brandon Knight left Kentucky for the NBA.  Knight hasn't made an announcement that I know of, so if Trevor is going ahead with his announcement anyway, I think it bodes well for Bama.

From what I can tell, the people around him believe his heart is with Alabama.  But at the same time being offered to play basketball at Kentucky really is a great opportunity, one that he's mentally tough to pass on for a young man.

It's my understanding that his heart is still with Bama, but he's starting to second guess turning down the opportunities of UK and KU.  I can certainly understand that.  In the end, I still think he will go Bama.

Title: Re: Trevor Lacy
Post by: SUPERCOACH on April 26, 2011, 03:20:51 PM
What he needs to realize is that UK or KU both have great programs, but he would get lost in the crowd there.  Say he goes there and they win the NCAA tourney while he is there.  That's great for sure, but a few years later it would be all but forgotten.

On the other hand, if he comes to Alabama and they do the same thing, well now that would be something truly special.  He could be part of the team that puts Alabama on the road to becoming an elite basketball school like those others some day.

Title: Re: Trevor Lacy
Post by: ricky023 on April 26, 2011, 03:26:10 PM
Oh yes SC. He would never be forgotten for doing that, and his Pro career would be locked in because he was such a good player ono a team that was not so special. RTR!

I'm already convinced.  I wish I could talk to him for a few minutes.  If he loves Bama like everyone says he does it should be an easy sale.  If he is worried about his pro career chances after college then he needs to go talk to Robert Horry.

Any news on Trevor Lacey?

Al.com has an article out today that he visited the barn last Thursday. It says he still plans on visiting Kentucty and Kansas. It does not look like this is going to end soon. They mention that some sites say he is targeted to sign on May 17 and other sites say there is no planned date.

I don't see him going to the barn or Kansas. I am concerned about Kentucky. Kentucky people I know think he is headed to Bama. I am ready for this to be over one way or the other. I like our incoming class either way.

Lacy could help Bama if he came here but I don't know if he would be good for Bama. He really likes himself a lot and I wonder how much of a team player he would be. CAG is a tough coach to play for, just wonder if Lacy can handle it.

I imagine CAG is a real culture shock for many. Spoiled stars that have never been told no. What more, parent(s) that have never been told no, because their kid is a star. The best you can hope for is that maybe a few will realize that what he tells them, or demands from them, is mostly for their own good.

CAG is a class act. He spent the week following the storms helping citizens repairs roofs and coiver them with blue tarps. Then he signs this young BB star Trevor Lacy away from Kansas, Kentucky and Auburn. That is a coup. He will have Bama in the final four if CAG continues to get high quality basketball stars.I wish the university would take this time of rebuilding and construct a new basketball arena on the land purschased from the state. A modern arena would help recruiting. Mal Moore has improved all the athletic facilities, even remodelling Coleman. It only makes sense that Mal Moore raise the money and built a new arena. 8)
