Title: Miami BB Coach Hired by Missouri-Coach Grant to Miami? UPDATED
Post by: Marshal Dillon on April 03, 2011, 10:25:11 PM
Geez, Missouri is going in every direction to replace Anderson. Coach Grant is from Miami, do we have anything to worry about? Miami plays in the ACC. In all honesty, I'm worried.

I'm not worried.  I think he wants to finish what he has started here.

I just checked, Miami BB plays in an 8,000 seat arena and Miami college sports has never been a magnet for fans.  This bodes well for us.

Exactly, we have plenty of green grass on our side of the fence.

A. I dont think he's the kind of dude to bail early.

B. Miami would not be a move up, or even lateral.

C. When he leaves (and he probably will eventually), I say he goes to the NBA or a big name College basketball program at a school where basketball is king.

Who in the heck wants to live in a crime infested area such as Miami anyway?

It's not that bad, just like everywhere else, you just have to know where not to go.  Miami is beautiful and has awesome weather, and I have always loved the Hispanic culture.  I would love to relocate to that area for a while, or just keep a beach condo.

LOL.  Clearly, you're talking Miami Beach or University of Miami, not Miami.  At least you could enjoy a game at the Orange Bowl.

Actually, the University of Miami is in Coral Gables, an upscale town southwest of Miami. The airport is nearby, too. It's sort of a yuppyish kind of town, like Homewood. I was there for a few days while my son was going through a pre-college experience at Miami. It was a chance for high school senoirs to see what college is all about, live in the dorms and actually took a couple of classs for credit. He was there for 3 weeks. I stayed at the Holiday Inn directly across from the university. He really liked it, but he ended up attending another college.

The choice for the new Missouri coach is underwhelming.

The last time I was in Miami was on business about 3 years ago. I was sitting at the bar enjoying a drink with the bartender and another patron while waiting for my flight. During the conversation, I learned that the bartender was Cuban and the patron was Venezuelan. As many bar conversations do, the talk turned to politics. Obama was running for president at the time and I was bending their ear complaining what might happen to the U.S. if he was elected. The bartender looked at me and said "you know, we have Castro". The Venezuelan said "and we have Chavez". I responded, "well, I guess that makes me a whiny little b**** now doesn't it". Of course they cracked up while I was picking the crow from my teeth.

Fun story.  Yes, it's a small world.  And we hardly have any legitimate gripes compared to them.
