In its 12 trips through the red zone, Alabama has come away with touchdowns all but once. Back-to-back incomplete passes inside the 10-yard line during the second quarter against Michigan resulted in Jeremy Shelley’s one and only field goal attempt of the season, an easy 22-yarder.

Alabama is one of just 16 teams across the country that has yet to leave the red zone with nothing. From that group, only two teams, Purdue and Louisiana Tech, have a higher percentage of touchdowns than the Crimson Tide.

“We’re better this year (in the red zone),” running back Eddie Lacy said. “But it’s something we’ve got to continue to work on and make sure we keep our scoring high.”

The ball can go anywhere,” wide receiver Christion Jones said. “The ball can go from the outside receiver all the way to the running back. It doesn’t really matter."

This is one aspect of this year's team that I have been so impressed with. AJ started to show us some of this last year, the ability to spread the ball around. It seems like this year he is doing it to a greater degree. I think that is what will help us later on in the year. When the D can't just focus on one person it makes it a lot easier for our offense to score. I hope he can continue to do this when the pressure is on and doesn't fall into the bad habit of keying in on certain players. I remember when Michael Jordan was playing. Everybody knew that he could score, but he was a great distributer as well and they never knew if they were going to get beat by Jordan, Steve Kerr, Pipen, or even Will Purdue! Some of the younger talent we have, I believe that we can actually be extremely difficult to defend.

Agreed.  AJ has matured, and I think Coach N is doing a great job.
