The worst call in Alabama's favor happened against Tennessee back in 1971 (B'ham). Alabama kicked off into the endzone. UT had the ball at the 20. After 3 plays the ball was straddling the 30 yard line (painted on Astroturf). Coach Bryant walked out and called for a measurement. The official allowed it, and the chains were stretched. It was just short! Bill Battle (UT coach) stormed out onto the field and got a 15-yard penalty. The game was never close after that: 32-15.
