Title: "SEC suspends Ole Miss DB for ‘flagrant and dangerous act" Post by: Chechem on September 11, 2012, 12:29:01 PM http://collegefootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2012/09/11/sec-suspends-ole-miss-db-for-flagrant-and-dangerous-act/
Video included. Quote A play very late in the win over UTEP this past weekend will cost Ole Miss a player for their upcoming game against a school from the same state. With 3:18 left in the fourth quarter, freshman defensive back Trae Elston went high and hard on a Miners wide receiver near the goal line, although the play didn’t draw a flag. It did, though, draw the attention of the SEC.... The Texas-Ole Miss line just grew longer than Pinocchio's nose. When he is guilty he can only sit down and maybe cry a little, real low. RTR!

That is a clean hit in my opinion. It was a severe blow. But it was not against his head, and it was delivered as the ball arrived (at the goal line). It was the only play the DB could make, since he was meeting the WR at midfield, both running full speed from opposite directions. He lead with the shoulder and hit the receiver in the chest. That's good football. Hits like that is what makes a lot of receivers scared to go accross the middle. SEC office got this one wrong. (If the defender had lead with his helment or hit the receiver in the head I would agree with the suspension.) The suits in B'ham flubbed this one big time. I was going to say maybe they should just play two-hand touch, but even that might be too much for the suits. I think td57 is right: the SEC will soon announce that all games will be flag football.
