Title: Honey Badger Has A New School
Post by: Marshal Dillon on August 11, 2012, 03:01:14 PM
I thought he would not be able to go to any NCAA school, due to his drug violations.

Mathieu can play this season if he transfers down a level from FBS to FCS. If Mathieu was to transfer to another FBS school, he would have to sit out a year to comply with NCAA rules.

Lake Charles is west of New Orleans, along the Gulf Coast.

Mathieu was a Heisman Trophy finalist last season and the Bednarik Award winner as the top defensive player in the country. Nicknamed Honey Badger, Mathieu became one of college football's biggest stars last season by making a bevy of big plays in his sophomore season at LSU.

I've lived in Lake Charles.  It is indeed west of New Orleans, but NOT "along the Gulf Coast".  It's 40 miles inland from an oilfield-infested stretch of marshy beaches.

I lived when we were working on the plant we built up beside the interstate. Shoot I forgot the name of it. Lake Charles is not a bad place. RTR!

Lake Charles is not a bad place.  It's blue collar, influenced as much by Texas as Louisiana (hence the team is the McNeese Cowboys), and has a heavy industrial surrounding of petrochemical plants.  The odor in a west wind will take your head off.

My point was that Lake Charles is hardly a Gulf-coast city, at least as we envision the Gulf coast near Mobile and Pensacola.  The beach is not inviting.  It's trashy and littered.  We used to visit Holly Beach (south of Lake Charles), and we'd always get tar balls on our shoes.

This is only true if he failed 3 NCAA-administered drug tests.  If the failed test(s) were school administered, this rule does not apply.

I thought they were NCAA tests.  That's why it's out of LSU's hands, and why HB contacted McNeese (I thought).  Surely he would have gone to a DIV 1A school otherwise!
