At the same time, Smart has never shied away from discussing his long-term ambition of becoming a head coach. In the days before the BCS national championship, Smart, whose current salary of $950,000 pays him better than at least 50 Division I FBS head coaches, said he was ready to achieve that goal, but was waiting for the "right" opportunity....

I think we are still fortunate that he is still with Bama.

I think we are still fortunate that he is still with Bama.

I think he could already have a small time DI job but he is smart enough to wait for a good job in a major conference to come available. We are fortunate to still have him.

Maybe he's waiting for CNS to retire.  Though I'd rather he go off somewhere and get some head coaching experience and then come back.
