That is hilarious. I've always felt that baseball umpires had too much authority. These umps have such a huge chip on their shoulder, and a lot of them are just looking for any excuse to toss someone.

I was a baseball official at all levels, LL, Dixie majors, HS, and college for 25 yrs+...And truth be told, I had some partners at times that were on ego trips and liked to show their authority.. I always refused to work with them if at all possible. The majority of guys I worked with were great umps, and tried hard to get calls right. I think most are like that, but some are real jerks.

Now...one thing I always tried to do was to have a good attitude and a sense of humor..I have had that tune played at games I officiated, and thought nothing of it except someone was having a little fun. Heck, I carried a fake glass eyeball in my ball bag just to pull out when a coach asked me if I had had my eyes checked! Some of them laughed, some didn't, but I had fun anyway!

A good ump has to have iron ears, eye like an eagle, and hide like a rhino!  I have been called every name you can think of..and mostly by the Mommas and Grandmas! Even had to pull my weapon on a guy after a game once. Some people are just plain crazy when it comes to baseball.

Too long to go into, but I will say that I have meet a lot of Pro umps, and they all seem to want to be the best at their profession.  I think sometimes they get really PO"D when having to deal with the prima donnas in the pros, the ones that want a postage stamp strike zone, etc.

I end by saying, all of you ought to work a few games to see how it REALLY is.
