Post by: hscoach on July 19, 2012, 10:06:29 PM
Is being investigated for a drive by murder.  He is/was being recruited by one of the Oregon schools I think.

Oak Cliff is considered a tough neighborhood, by Dallas standards.  I've driven through there several times, and was never concerned, compared to other places I've been, but maybe I missed the roughest neighborhoods.

Same here. I've driven all over Dallas/Ft. Worth for years and never got the opinion- unlike some areas of New Orleans or even Houston- that if something goes wrong (flat tire) I may die!

Some areas of NOLA, pre-Katrina--the cops don't even go unless they have to!

I've been in N.O. and out on Airline Hwy. or 61 which ever and it is bad there. I've crossed Huey P. Long Bridge and pretty much seen that place from top to bottom. I found it to be stay friendly and live, get in their face and leave carried by 6. lol, I lived in Pasadena, TX when I worked out there and Spencer Hwy. was my home. It don't get any crazier. I just know I am proud to in Alabama and this is Gods' country. RTR!

20 years ago, a law firm in NYC paid me a bunch of money to get off the subway on one particular stop in Brooklyn. They needed a business operation number (posted in every business) for some kind of legal issue. People were driving up and over the curb to run me off the sidewalk. Gangs (groups of men) followed me the whole way. I was armed but the punishment for carrying a weapon without a permit are worse (gauranteed 1 year on Rikers Island) than the alternative. But the probability that I was armed kept me alive. Lets just say the Billie Joel song about "I walked through Bedford Stuy alone..." took on a whole new meaning.

I've been through parts of N.O.  Never Brooklyn, though, I'm not a complete fool.  Mostly for me it was parts of Chicago, the South side and western parts, and I lived near and drove through Cabrini Green, an infamous housing project, long before they demolished it, and past the only McDonalds ever closed due to a gang war that riddled it with bullets.  I found that Cabrini Green made a great shortcut during daylight hours, because no one ever went there, although I did drive fast, and I never, ever stopped.
