Title: Bama baseball vs UT
Post by: 2Stater on April 19, 2014, 05:58:41 PM
Bama comes back from a 6-1 deficit after 5 innings to beat the Vols 7-6. What character this team appears to have!!!  #+

They go to 12-5 in the SEC after guaranteeing taking this series, and 28-11 overall.

Way to go guys

Any win over Tennessee is sweet

But to come from behind like this is a great confidence booster.

To lose one like this is a dagger in the heart of the Vols.

Thanks for updating us 2.

We stayed until the end of the football game and my girls wanted to hit a few of the stores on the strip on the way out. By the time I got to the car and turned the radio on we were down 6-3 in the bottom of the 6th.

What a comeback!

We go for the sweep today. Going into today's game we have a one game lead over Florida for the overall SEC lead. We have a 2.5 game lead over Ole Miss in the West.

UT wins 10-9. Boy, did we let one get away. Keller pitched great, but our relievers blew chunks. Big disappointment.  :-\

It was a real downer to blow an 8-2 lead in the 8th and a 9-8 lead in the 9th. We ran out of pitching. Playing five games in one week is difficult on a pitching staff. We had used our closer on Wed, Fri and Sat so he was not available. In the 9th we went to our 2nd baseman Kyle Overstreet to close the game. He had only pitched 1 inning all year. We used four relievers just trying to get out of the 8th.

Overall we had a very good week. We played 5 games with 4 of them on the road. The UAB Wed game in B'ham was no walk in the park. That was a quality win. We took the UT series winning 2 of 3. Going into the week I thought winning 4 of 5 was a difficult task.

We finish the week 28-12 and 12-6 SEC. We are tied with Florida for the overall SEC lead. We lead the SEC West by 1.5 games over LSU.

We started the week with an RPI of #24 and UT was #19. Today our RPI is #16 and UT is #26.

As I said in the previous post it was a tough loss blowing the big lead yesterday but at the end of the year beating UT 2 of 3 in their park will look very good on our schedule.

Our offense played great. We got 10 plus hits in every game last week. They have to be pleased with their production. The team can not get down on the pitching. We have played 40 games and I can think of only two games where pitching has hurt us. One was Sunday and the other was when we blew a lead in the A&M series. Pitching has won their share of games this year. I still can not get over the 6 games we lost 2-1 and two others we lost 2-0 and 1-0. The offense can not be too upset with the pitching.

Our four toughest series of the year are coming up. We have USC (RPI #6) on the road, Florida #1 at home, LSU #13 on the road and Miss St #40 at home.
