New track coach Dan Waters believes Tide can win national championships

Our new track coach from Texas A&M has an impressive record. A&M won their third consective men's and Women's Nation Championships this year. He thinks thinks Bama has everything in place to win championships.

But the Aggies soon were off and running toward un­precedented success. Last weekend in Des Moines, Iowa, they finished off a triple-double: third consec­utive men's and women's national championships.

 

Can the Crimson Tide win national championships in track and field? "No doubt about it," Waters said. "I really, truly believe that.

I hate to pee all over your enthusiasm, pmull, but what would you expect the guy to say?

I am excited that we have a coach that has won three consecutive national championships. That's not talk, that is a fact. You are right about what he says about the Alabama program. He has to say the polictical correct thing but I still like hearing it.

Harvey Glance probably was capable and gave his all. But tell me you don't have sabotage in the back of your mind, anytime we hand the keys over to a barner?

I'm not sure about Harvey Glance, other than he is a barner. After 13 years and we are still middle of the SEC pack tells me it is time for a change. We are supposed to complete for championships in all sports or we need a new coach IMO.

Each year, when discussion of the "all sports" chamiopnship comes up, I am shocked and dismayed. I guess we don't get much credit for being in the NC discussion all football season long or having a basketball program that is on the rise and exceeded everyone's expectations. Even still, our sucess in golf, softball, tennis, and gymnastics don't seem to overcome our lack of a lacrosse or ice hockey team. Something is not right.
