HSC - thanks for the game notes.  Always look forward to them on Sunday.  Is it just me or is the HoneyBadger overrated?  And I am not just talking about the cheap shot on Dre.  I thought he got taken to school several times last night by what many think are kind of average BAMA receivers.

I really couldn't say if he is over rated or not.  I know MM beat him a couple of times.  He did effect one play when he came of on the blitz.  The field was so full of good athletes evey time someone wins and someone loses on every play.

Glad you all enjoy the notes.

There was a discussion over Maze being hurt, as to why he did not field the punt we lost yards on. Wouldn't the coaches be aware of this and held him out, if hurt that bad?

Kind of the same thing with MB back in the '10 IB.

He had been playing after he was hurt.  The punter nailed one and probably could not use the plant foot needed to push off and get to the ball.

Also, let me just say this.  Bama beat LSU in 2 out of 3 phases of the game.  They lost because of special teams and untimely penalties.  I still believe Bama is the better overall team.

HS great notes. I noticed the deep crossing routes were open. AJ hit on one. I believe the trick play was a waste. Why not pound it in there, burn clock and get points.

Also noticed we checked into the teeth of the D several times and had negative plays.

All things considered it was a great game. I love defense.

Compared to recent years, I was excited about our kick coverage this year. The difference between our special teams and LSU's is not that big on the season(JMO). But last night everything that could go wrong, did.  The "D" carried the special teams and the offense for the most part, which shows how great this "D" is. I'll also be surprised if the "D"  shows much drop-off, if any, next Saturday.

The play on the field was what I would expect from the two best football teams in the nation.  Each team made a number of mistakes on offense but I believe that was because of outstanding play by two phenomenal defenses.  The thing that irks me is repeatedly making long shot attempts at field goals.  I harken back to the days of Bear when field position in a game of this nature was paramount.  I remember times when Bear would quick kick in order to pin the opposition deep and then dare them to drive the field.  Giving up the field position by missing those FGs was the error of our ways in my opinion.  I think we should have punted them deep.  With our defense the likelihood of lsu driving the field was minimal and probably would have kept us in their end of the field for most of the game rather than having to drive from our own 4 yd line twice.

I agree 100%.  That keeps them out of FG range too, so they may not have even scored.

I heard on the radio at lunch that there was speculation that the ball on the punt hit one of the cables that control the over the field camera. Anyone else hear that?

We had a couple of threads about it on here somewhere.  I think the consensus is that it probably didn't hit the cable or it would have come down in front of him instead of going over his head.
