I have more of a problem with the length of the TV timeouts with CBS more so than with Gerne & Vary.

You nailed that 100%!

I tried to watch the MSU game with the sound off, and Crimson Sports network (Eli, radio), but the time delay between the video and radio broadcast was too much.

I truly despise  these two boobs..I'll be glad when the CBS contract is up.

I guess I can handle Verne and Gary as well as I can handle some of these young ones that they have on there now. They are funny at times and I agree they go a little overboard at times but again I can tolerate a little honest ignorance with their presentation better than I can an overzealous commentator that knows it all and is never wrong. One of my favorites was Dizzy Dean in baseball, he sounded dumb as a rock with his commentating but he always had you laughing with his presentation. Somewhat like Verne and Gary.

Do you remember him saying, "he slud into 3rd base" & he loved to say ain't. English teachers would write him and CBS complaining. He would say he wasn't smart, just a great pitcher.

And a great pitcher along with his brother Daffy.  His stories of the Gashouse Gang were priceless.

Did Verne or Gary mention that Bama knocked off no. 1 Miss State last year?  If so I missed it.

Yep. They mentioned that and several times that Mullen was like 0-7 against Bama, and had scored a high of only 20 points in those losses. In other words, MSU & Mullen were owned by Saban.

My biggest issues are:
1) They constantly seem lost. We can see something as plain as day on the TV (or computer monitor in my case), and they have no clue what happened.  I've never seen/heard this from other commentators.
2) As someone else mentioned, they get hung up on something and just won't let it go. Whether it's a missed penalty or Gary's theme for the game (in LSU game he said "little things" after almost every play of the game), it just gets tiresome.

I've never really thought they were biased, just clueless at times and mostly plain annoying.  I don't think anyone likes them, I'm not sure why CBS keeps them around.

Like it or not, Gary and Verne are the tops for CBS, and CBS has the contract with the SEC.  They know SEC sports, and work to prepare for the games by visiting coaches and practices leading up to the game.  And they don't confuse NCAA rules with NFL rules or constantly compare the two (like Musberger, et al.).

I laugh at Verne's missteps on names of players, especially when he calls them by a name 2 decades past!  LOL

If complaints are the focus herein, let me add that the sidelines issues pizz me off.  G & V will spot someone on the sidelines, like Peyton or Bo, and spend the next 15 minutes telling stories about them, while the game is ongoing.  Or they'll get off on some issue at another school and chat about that, then look up and say, "Oh, while we were chatting Henry ran for a 66-yard touchdown."

Those stories usually come about when we're up 30-10 and they are trying to find something to talk about.

Not always.  Know you're just funning, but the Tennessee game was very competitive, and they spent 15 minutes talking about Peyton.  None of it concerned the game they were announcing.

I agree, my complaints aren't of bias but irrelevance and repetition.

It's stuff like this that I can't stand.  The endless prattle overshadows Gary's sometimes decent analysis or Verne's endearing incompetence.

That is true. They did indeed, screw that up. Fivehead is washed up anyway, and is old news.

I admit, I'd rather watch them than the other options.  The worst to me is that female announcer, who seems to yell when announcing, especially when something exciting occurs.

Musberger is only entertaining when checking out babes in the stands.  There's nobody else!
