I'm trying to think of someone admitted to the HOF who was probably juiced with roids, but I can't think of anyone off the top of my head. Future candidates who I know weren't would include:

Greg Maddox
Tom Glavine
Dale Murphy
Chipper Jones
Larry Walker (not 100% about him & roids)
Lee Smith

MD, I wasn't actually saying that I know for a fact someone has been elected or would be, I only meant that the possibility exists. Please forgive me if I insinuated otherwise.

You raised a fasinating thought. That's why McQuire, Sosa, Clemens, Bonds, and some other big stars of that era won't make it.

Agreed. Believe me, I don't think Rose should be in, either. Unfortunately, to that end, you can't allow the members of the Chicago White Sox team of 1919 in either due to gambling. That means that a fantastic player ("Shoeless" Joe Jackson) will be left out.

I sure hope not, but I wouldn't be a bit surprised if it did.

A little off track here, but something interesting about Shoeless Joe. There is a statue of him in front of a popular Greenville, SC restaurant. He was from Greenville. Anyway the story goes that when he played early on for the Philadelphia Athletics, I believe, that they were playing a double header. In the first game, he wore blisters on his feet from new shoes. Late in the second game he took his shoes off and batted barefoot. He got on base, I think with a triple, and scored on a sac fly, sliding in with his stocking feet first. Someone in the stands yelled out "Jackson, you shoeless SOB". And that's how he got his nickname.

Just to clarify, the Chicago Black Sox threw games, there has never been any allegation that Rose threw games. Second, Bart Giammeti was baseball commissioner when Rose was suspended. Giammeti was followed by his "close friend" Faye Vincent, both were ivy league elitist who deplored the work ethic that Rose represented. And of course, no one can challenge what Bart and Faye decreed, it might be considered a hate crime.

Just to clarify, why do you think Rose never fought his banishment once it went to Federal court, because he KNEW how bad the report on his behavior was. I have read several accounts that his gambling was out of control and Rose was terrified of anyone seeing the report. He has now admitted to betting on baseball after lying about it for 15 years. Look at it this way, we all know there is a death penalty for murder in Alabama. All baseball players know there is a death penaty in baseball, it's called gambling.

And how many murderers in AL receive the death penalty? And how many are paroled? How many have their sentence commuted? How do you happen to know why Rose didn't challenge the ruling? How many "murderers" receive a death sentence for 2nd degree murder, or manslaughter?

Bottom line, Rose didn't fix any games, he was one of the all-time great players and he deserves to be in the HOF.

You're right, instead of the death penalty, they get life without parole. Not much different if you think about it. Also, do some readig on the subject, Rose never filed any paperwork once the case was assigned to Federal Court. He knew better.

Never meant to imply that he did, so sorry about the verbage. I guess my point was that Rose is not the only great player not in the HOF due to gambling/game fixing.

I think a lot of the posters are misunderstanding the issue of gambling and sports. You dont have to be throwing a game, cn can't gamble on your own sport, period. I'm sure if Saban started gambling on teams in the PAC 12 or even the Ohio Valley Conference, the NCAA would bury him, deep. Same goes for players.
