Title: Was the Payne touchdown pass aided by offensive pass interference??

The web is filling with complaints that Bama's blocker interfered on the play.  But my understanding of it was "No, because the initial blocking contact started at the line of scrimmage, and the blocker stayed engaged."

Did the blocker subsequently hold on the play?  Another issue...

Did Clemson do the same last year?  No.  Their blocker wasn't contacting the rusher at the LOS.

You?

I agree with you and disagree with the announcers who said it was interference.  This isn't at all like the Clemson non-penalty.  Our guy was blocking his man and it just so happened that the Clemson DB, coming forward to stop a perceived run, got caught up in the block.

I was reading some of the posts on the Clemson board. There were a few that were complaining about officiating, but for the most part, they acknowledged their beat-down. I could only laugh about the complainers. They wouldn't have won no matter what. Last year's bad no-calls, however, changed the outcome of the game.

After further review the touchdown stands.

Clemson complaining about pass interference... give me a break.

I do not give a crap what anyone thinks about the play except the refs who did not think it was interference or they would have called it.

I'll be ok with nullifying that TD if Clemson will also agree to nullifying the Pick-play TD form the NC game last January... We would also get the trophy for winning the 2016 NC though...

Yes, it was OPI. No, I don't feel bad for "getting away with it" after last year's OPI for Clemson to win the game.

To return to the topic,

1.  Is the rule indeed that there's no foul if the blocker is engaged in blocking starting at the LOS?

2.  Is that LOS rule dependent on the definition of LOS being 1-yard downfield or less?

Josh is the biggest screwup on the show. Everything goes wrong with that guy.
