Interesting article. They could be in some deep sheet. Looks suspicious.

"The University of Oregon paid more than $28,000 to two men with ties to multiple recruits who signed letters of intent with the school, Yahoo! Sports has learned.

According to State of Oregon expenditure records, the university paid $25,000 to Will Lyles of Complete Scouting Services in Houston, and $3,745 to Baron Flenory of New Level Athletics. Lyles is a former athletic trainer who recently was serving as a mentor to highly touted Ducks running back recruit Lache Seastrunk. Meanwhile, Flenory runs the Badger Sports Elite 7-on-7 football camps which have featured several celebrated Ducks signees including running back DeAnthony Thomas, defensive back Cliff Harris, defensive back Dior Mathis and wideout Tacoi Sumler. Flenory had a personal training relationship with recent Ducks signee Anthony Wallace."

Sounds pretty serious.

Thanks for posting (cred up).

$28,000 paid?  Boosters are cheap in Oregon.  That's at least a degree of magnitude too low for the south. :P

Yep, they are (how did you say?) in deep sheet.

I wonder if this is what cowherd was referring to, and not the SI criminal story.

Either way, forget the ducks.

Got to be Cowherd's story.

Well I thought Coach Chip Kelley was a brillant coach or something. He got all that speed and knew how to use it. No wonder if this is true, it helps out to slide some payments to guys you don't want to loose. RTR!

I just don't understand why coaches and boosters would do something so stupid - I mean, they KNOW the consequences once they get caught - and they will get caught.
I feel sorry for the players who will be the ones most affected.. the ones who aren't guilty of any of these things. :(  just sad to me.

Yea Terrie. I think about the fans who sit on pins and needles till all the answers pop up and they want to be able to win that NC. I will personally it was a long hard road for us when we got punished for something we didn't even do. RTR!

They really don't think they will get caught, that's why. Especially boosters, they usually include rich guys who think they can wheel & deal any way they want to.

Terrie, it's easy to envision a booster cheating when there is a combination of alcohol, arrogance, and pomposity.

So the NC game was played by 2 cheaters it would appear. Should have called it the PFP bowl. (Play for Pay).

Don't laugh. It's very possible this will be known as teh Cheaters Bowl in the future. Kinda like the Black Sox of he 1919 World Series.

Well I have to say I really think CNS runs as fair of a program that he can possibly run. The thing I like about it is, he knows everything that goes on, and he deals with it. He is a full control coach and I love it. Even the power of the Media doesn't bother him. When his time is over he will be known as the Power of Alabama Football. RTR!

The sad thing is, we don't know how widespread this activity is in college football. I've heard speculation that it is very widespread , but that few programs really get caught. If that's the case, then it is indeed sad. I personally have no real problem with players getting paid, just let it be above board and sanctioned by the powers that be and fair to all. Vulture agents should not, however, be part of the scenario. Major college programs receive huge revenue, thanks in great part, to these young men. A lot of these students come from underprivileged backgrounds and never make the pros. They do, however, sacrifice their bodies for the sport. IMO, if you pay these guys, it will take some of the "stink" that is becoming more prevalent in college sports.
