Title: Florida-Alabama Preview
Post by: bama57 on September 17, 2014, 05:50:22 AM
The relationship between Alabama coach Nick Saban and Florida coach Will Muschamp is well documented with the mentor taking on his student again this weekend.

The matchup on the field to watch is how Crimson Tide star receiver Amari Cooper fares against Gators defensive back Vernon Hargreaves III.

Saban recruited Hargreaves hard, but the talented cornerback opted to play for the Gators, who seek improvement going into Saturday's road game against the third-ranked Crimson Tide.

Muschamp was Saban's defensive coordinator at LSU and also worked with him with the Miami

Focal points for the game:

#1.  Cooper vs Hargreaves;
#2.  Can Sims throw to anyone else?

as far as #2 , If he can't throw to anyone else I hope it opens him up to show his elusiveness at running!

Sims' running gives our team a set of options we haven't seen since the wishbone days.  Kiffin's roll-out package allows more time for receivers, pressures the edges of the defense, and spreads the field.

I like it.
So far!   :unsure:

We are going to be tested some what Saturday. Hargreaves is a great DB but I don't think he can constantly cover AC all day. This going to be an exciting game. RTR!

Certainly true.
Amari will want to prove himself against Hargreaves, and his success depends on Sims.  That said, we'll learn if Sims can successfully go through his reads, and find the secondary receivers when necessary.  A strong running game will make it easier!

The one question I still have is just how good is Driskel? A couple of QB's has thrown well against us. I really think he will be trying to do the same Saturday. RTR!

We just got schooled by a 3rd-rate USM QB.
So, Driskel can certainly put the hurt on our DBs, especially since we're missing Nick Perry and (likely) Eddie Jackson.

Maybe Driskel will have a case of the jitters from last time we played.   ;D
