Houston trades DeMeco Ryans to Philadelphia Eagles

The Philadelphia Eagles have acquired two-time Pro Bowl linebacker DeMeco Ryans from the Houston Texans for a fourth-round draft pick in 2012.

The 27-year-old linebacker, former University of Alabama standout and team captain leaves Houston as the Texans all-time leader with 637 tackles while also contributing eight sacks, six forced fumbles, eight fumble recoveries and two interceptions in his six-year career. He earned Pro Bowl honors following the 2007 and 2009 campaigns and was an Associated Press All-Pro selection in 2007.

What was Houston thinking. The Eagles got the best of this deal by far.

I think you may be on the right track. They also traded DT Pro Bowler Mario Williams this year. That defense is gone to pot.

I really liked Houston since they had Demeco, Kareem, and Antoine Caldwell. From what they are saying this was a salary cap issue, and Demeco was not a good fit for Wade Phillips 3-4 scheme. I hate that he went to the Eagles because I despise the Eagles.

that sucks because my family was talking about coming to stay with me and watch demeco play.  they loved him.  the texans suck and they will always suck.  the astros and texans have been run into the ground.  Why can't houston get a good pro team???  I have no clue how the rockets are...i hate basketball

The Rockets were pretty good this one time when Robert Horry (former bama player) played there, but that was a long time ago.  I have no idea how they do since he left.

I am completely lost on this one. He will be 28 (his prime) when the season starts, he's team captain, Pro Bowl LB, and they trade him for a.......4th round pick? This marks rhe decline of the Houston D if you ask me. I bet the fans are upset, too. He's a community-oriented guy so Houston will take a huge hit on this decision. Wow!

DeMeco is a special player. Anyone who saw him play for Alabama already knows that.

I think the Eagles win their division now. They have definitely upgraded their defense.

but I've followed Meco ever since Alabama ,

when him , Brodie , Roman , Freddie & Mark A. came to the
Senior Bowl and up until now ...

so I guess I'll have to watch the eagles too ...

My bride is from Philly. Mark "Mighty Mouse"" McMillan played for the Eagles, and I will  pull for them this season now that Demeco is there. Maybe not as my fav team, but...I 'll watch and drink a beer.
