So I was thinking about all the returning Qb's this season and though 'Why not start a discussion"

These are only in order of how they come to me, not a ranking system at all.

1. Hurts, I mean he was the SEC Offensive player of the year. He is working on his passing and that will be key. If you go back to last spring he made some good throws to D. KIef (I probably spelled his name wrong) in the spring game, so I could really see that as a plus for both of them. No doubt Hurts can run and I see Bama running the ball well this year, but that should open up play action and Bama has to hit those to keep the D honest. I give Hurts another chance at being great but he will be tested the first Game against FSU.

2. Jacob Eason, the pass he made last year against UT (that should have won the game for them) to Riley was the best I seen all year. But he has trouble reading defenses, so he has a lot of work to do. Also his O-line was not great. And a D that is coached by the great Kirby didn’t help him out any. I think Eason makes strides but UGA as a team is unpredictable.

3. Shea Patterson. Ole miss and huge freeze are IdIots. The used a redshirt season on three games that Patterson had to win all three just to make It to a bowl. Patterson looked awesome at times and lost at times (just like his head coach). Patterson has a lot of upside to him but He will be running from Defenses all year.

4. Austin Allen. Arky could be a really good team, but there head coach Is stuck In his Wisconsin ways and thinks what worked there has to work In the SEC. If he don’t start winning Arky fans will not put up with It. Allen Is a good passer and tough as nails. Problem is he has to be as much as he gets the crap knocked out of him every year. They will probably be just like every year, fair not great with a few surprise wins and some devastating losses.

5. Who Is the Barns QB? I heard on the radio the new guy reminds them of that CB they had that played QB for them. You know the one that could run but not throw at all. Then they have Shaun White who did alight but can’t run to save his life. To be honest who cares, I hope they win enough to keep Malzohne but not enough to matter.

Ok tell me how bad I messed up and add your thoughts. Why Is Football season so far away Cry

Good post, STSM! Have an e-cred.

Hurts has had a year in the system and everyone is lauding him in spring practice, so things look bright for him. But we won't know for sure until we play FSU. Hopefully, we have an improved O line that can road grade and spring the stable of great runners that we have. As you said, that will be huge for the "play action" part of the game.

Eason has had a year in Kirby's system as well, but I'm not sure this year will show leaps and bounds of improvement for UGa. Kirby had a monster recruiting year, but they are all freshman, and only a few will probably have an impact. They need much help on D and with their O line.

Doesn't matter how good Patterson is, he can't throw passes laying on the ground, which is where he'll be most of the time. Ole Miss' NCAA debacle ran recruits off the last 2 years, so I don'[t expect much from them.

Austin Allen is a very good QB surrounded by a mediocre team, with a mediocre coach who had another mediocre recruiting year. They will be lucky to reach .500 this year.

Malzahn is Malzahn and Awbren is Awbren.
If their new QB lives up to his hype (which most of their incoming QBs rarely do, $cam being the exception), they might go 8-4. We will still wear their a$$ out, though.

148 days away. Tick....tick....tick......
