I think AP would love the school enough to do it the right way. RTR!

Kole Kubleck mentioned Antoine Pettway, current Tide asst. coach and #2 recruiter in college BB on the radio? What do you all think?

I think I'd like to see him get 3-4 years of head coaching experience somewhere else first.  Other than lack of experience being the top dog, I'd also be concerned about what kind of staff he could assemble.  Which brings up the question - how good is AP and the rest of Avery's staff doing when our fundamentals and player development is lacking?

Excellent points about Pettway. He can recruit, but can he develop? I would prefer to see him as a HC somewhere else, too. I love the guy, but we need a known quantity.

I have a lot of respect for A. Pettway. I loved him as a player and he has been a good assistant coach. He is known for being a very good recruiter. I question if he is ready to be a head coach at any NCAA level but especially at a Power 5 school.

I prefer an experienced coach. That is easy to say but it will be very hard to find the right guy for our program. If we decide to go with a former player from the assistant coach level I would prefer Philip Pearson who played for Wimp and was Gottfried top assistant. He was interim coach and did pretty good when Gottfried left in mid-season. He was Mark Foxx top assistant at UGA until he was fired last year. He is on the Mercer staff this year.

If CAJ left this year I would not be surprised to see John Pelphrey elevated to interim coach for next season if we cannot find the right guy. It also gives Pelphrey a year to see if he can win like he did at South Alabama or under perform like he did at Arkansas.

I would definitely trade Avery for the guy we're going up against tonight (South Carolina's Frank Martin).

We're sure to be outcoached and the game is on the road...I'm not getting my hopes up.

The game is at USCe. That gives them the advantage.

CAJ is 4-1 against USCe and Frank Martin including two wins in their Final Four season. USCe has only made the NCAA Tourney once in Martin's 6 full seasons at USCe. He had a good run at K State but that has not carried over to USCe. He is 54-67 in SEC play compared to CAJ 33-35. The last three years we have beat them being the more physical team.

I am not counting us out yet.

If you're going to look at the Alabama high school ranks, why not Mountain Brook's coach?  He's going for his third straight in 3 years.

Under NO circumstances do we get  HIGH SCHOOL coach for an SEC school, especially Alabama.

I hear Rush Propst is available... Wonder what he knows about basketball?  I mean, could he do any worse than what we've had for a few years?

We have the name, we need a reputation for supporting and we might get a good head coach. Not one in training. RTR!

We can hire him to replace Saban.
