Posted for Hannibal Lecter.

Quote
Each week during the football season, we offer up our top 12 players on the Crimson Tide roster. Please note that this list isn't based solely on the previous week's performances. Instead, it's based on a number of factors, including season-long production.

1. RB Trent Richardson  (last week: 1): The third quarter has been good to Richardson and the Alabama offense in recent weeks. In wins over Vanderbilt and Ole Miss, the junior rushed for 175 of his 290 yards in the third period. Picked up SEC offensive player of the week honors after rushing for a career-high 183 yards against the Rebels. Sixth-straight 100-yard game places Richardson in Shaun Alexander's neighborhood....

Thank you, sir.  Seems like Dont'a has been a little too low on these lists lately.

The most impressive thing about that list to me are the very good players who are not on it. Lester, Johnson, Menzie, Hanks and M. Williams would make the top 12 on most teams.

Ranking them by performance violates several rules of independence (they are interactive entities), so I suppose any ranking is questionable.  I agree that DH is the quiet key to the D.  It's just food for discussion, but the ranking seems rather subjective and stochastic.

I agree with CAT on the subjectiveness. For instance, the difference between DK and Menzie must be Dre's special teams play.

I really don't like list like this for these reasons:
1. Trent doesn't rush like this without a good push by the OL.  I know he does break tackle and ankles, but look at the early games when they were playing lesser opponents.
2. AJ can't complete passes without protection.
3.  The LB's don't make plays if the DL doesn't keep the OL off the LBs.
4. The pass D is a lot less effective if they don't get help from the DL pressuring the QB.
I guess, I am more of a team first guy.

Well said. All good points. All it takes for the chain to break is one weak link.
