They had better get their game face on because crunch time is almost here. Wink

Nice win over JSU.

It is time to focus on our trip to LSU. This is a very important series. After leading the SEC most of the season we have dropped 5 of our last SEC games.

SEC Standings
Florida   18 - 6
Ole Miss   15 - 9
MSU           14 - 10
Vanderbilt   14 - 10
LSU           13 - 10 - 1
USC           13 - 11
Bama           13 - 11
Texas A&M   12 - 12
Arkansas   11 - 13
Tennessee   10 - 14
Kentucky   10 - 14
Georgia   9 - 14 - 1
Auburn   9 - 15
Missouri   6 - 18

We are in a tie for 6th but two teams slightly ahead of us are LSU and MSU. We play both of these teams to end the season. We can beat both of these teams if we play well. Everyone is disappointed in the Florida sweep. That is understandable but we caught UF with them playing their best baseball of the season and they are a good team.

Baseball notes:

Alabama has an overall record of 31-18 and 13-11 SEC.

Alabama has a RPI of #25 with a SOS of #16.

LSU has a RPI of #19.

Florida, who just sweep us at home, has a RPI of #2.

Alabama has a team batting average of .282 (4th SEC) and ERA of 3.11 (8th SEC). Last year our BA was .259 and ERA was 3.70. We have hit 36 HR (2nd SEC). We hit 26 HR all of last season. We are a much better team this year. We have gained respect in the SEC. We are a bigger stronger team that hits with more power. Our Slugging Pct is .399 this year compared to .344 last year. Our slugging pct. is 3rd in the SEC.

We appear to be a lock for a NCAA Tournament bid. We are in position to host a regional if we finish the season strong against two very good teams in LSU and MSU. Getting hot and going to Omaha is not unreasonable to hope for. We have solid pitching and we have a good hitters. Remember, our SEC schedule is as difficult as any team that will be in Omaha.

Hey pmull do you know anything about injuries? RTR!

We are healthy. Ryan Blanchard (LF) got hurt (knee) before SEC play started but he is the only injury. I am not aware of any other injuries.

We are at the end of the season. We have normal wear and tear, tired arms, etc. but every team deals with that this time of year.
