I have always been a Detroit Lions fan! I know, I know they were usually awful but I kept hoping they would field a quality team, not likely with Matt Millen as GM, but inept coaches, injuries, luck, and poor management always torpedoed their chances. Finally it appears the Lions have a very good team. Calvin Johnson, Matthew Stafford, Ndomakun Suh are a tough out for anyone. Maybe this year I can enjoy the Thanksgiving Day game.

In the 1950's and into the 1960's, the Lions had some ferocious teams, especially their defense. It was like the Steelers D of the past years. Plus, they won 3 NFL Championships in the 1950's.

Don't forget Alex Karras.

He was known as the Mad Duck because of his way of running. He was like 6'2" 255 DT and very quick and tough.

My confession - I have a degree from UNA (and Bama), grew up in the Shoals, and have never been to a UNA football game.

I have a confession.  I've been a Bama fan and Saints fan for as long as I can remember.  This year will be the second time in three years that both teams win championships a month apart.

And another; I'd like to behead the TV people who decided to give my region Titans games instead of Saints games.  Heck, I'd settle for the Falcons, but we get neither.  Yep, my confession will be to a gruesome beheading.  :-\

The NFL does a lot of things right, but the TV scheduling is terrible.  If you don't live in your favorite teams market you're not able to watch them play every week unless you have DirecTV and pay a lot of money for the NFL package.  Tuscaloosa/Birmingham is considered a secondary market of Atlanta so we used to always get the Falcons (who I despise) unless they were terrible and the Saints were doing well.
