There was a lot of Division I talent on the Magnolia Fields on the campus of the University of South Florida over the weekend. The BadgerSport 7-on-7 Tournament brought in 15 teams from the talent-rich state of Florida, a state that produces hundreds of Division I players a year.

Land O' Lakes tight end Kent Taylor made an impression for Team Tampa, showcasing great hands and above average speed for a player his size (6-foot-5, 215 pounds).

Taylor is being recruited for Alabama by special teams coach Bobby Williams.

"I'm kind of like Colin Peek - just being able to catch the ball and block in that pro-style offense," Taylor said. "I think I would fit in good at Alabama.

"I saw (Peek) late in his career as they were playing Florida. My brother's best friend, he's best friends with Colin Peek.

Sounds like he would fit in very well at Alabama.  And I like his attitude.

"I know I'm just getting out here but I wasn't hiding man, after all, I've got 23 offers," Taylor joked.

His current top group includes Alabama, LSU, Florida, Florida State and Miami. The three in-state powers offered Taylor when he made on-campus visits for their respective junior days.

Alabama and LSU just offered last week and have Taylor intrigued.

"Those two are the elite programs of the SEC," Taylor said. "Whenever Alabama and LSU are interested you definitely want to check out what they have to offer."
