Title: Vote for Cassie Reilly-Boccia
Post by: pmull on April 05, 2012, 12:31:48 PM
Alabama outfielder Cassie Reilly-Boccia (Yorktown Heights, N.Y.) was one of 10 softball student-athletes that were selected as finalists today for the 2012 Lowe’s Senior CLASS Award. To be eligible for the award, a student-athlete must be classified as an NCAA Division I senior and have notable achievements in four areas of excellence – community, classroom, character and competition.

YOUR VOTE COUNTS! Fan balloting counts for 1/3 of the total with the remaining 2/3 determined by NCAA Division I coaches and national media members. Fans can vote on this page through midnight CT on the final day of voting.

Cool.  Voted again.  She is up to 19.6%.  And it appears now to be a two girl race, with everyone else dropping down.  The Yankee press likely will go for the Hawaiin girl, the coaches maybe not.

I have figured out how to vote as many times as you want.  :D

Title: Re: Vote for Cassie Reilly-Boccia
Post by: SUPERCOACH on April 19, 2012, 10:50:37 AM
Here is how you can vote as many times as you want:

1.  After you vote, you will see a message that looks like this:

2.  Right click anywhere on that message.  You should see a menu that looks similar to this:

3.  Click on the Settings command close to the bottom.  NOT Global Settings.

4.  This will bring up the Adobe Flash Player Settings screen that should look something like this:

5.  There are tabs across the bottom.  Be sure to click on the tab that looks like a file folder, if you are not already on that one.

6.  Now you are on the local storage settings.  See that little slider that lets you specify how much storage can be used by www.seniorclassaward.com?  Note which tick mark it is on.  Mine was on the 3rd tick mark which is 100KB.

7.  Move that thing all the way to the left.  This sets it to 0, which erases the information for www.seniorclassaward.com.  This causes it to lose track of the fact that you have already voted today.

8.  You should see a warning message similar to this:

9.  Click on the OK button.

10.  Now your screen should look like this, with the slider all the way to the left:

11.  Now click on the close button.

12.  Now refresh the page in your browser window.

13.  It will reload, and it should show you the voting form again with the vote now button, instead of the "already voted" message.

14.  However at this point you still can't vote.  You have to turn the storage back on first.

15.  Right click on the voting form again to bring up the menu:

16.  Click on the settings menu again.

17.  Now move the slider back to the original spot (noted from step 6).  Don't worry if you don't remember what it was set to originally.  Just move it to the 3rd tick mark, which should be 100KB.

18.  Now click the close button.

19.  You should be back on the voting form and you can now vote again.

20.  Go back to step 1.  Do this as many times as you want.

No doubt that this is how the other girl is staying in the lead.  Well we should be able to catch up to her now if everyone starts doing this.

I don't think the counter tallies as we vote, I think it updates itself maybe every hour. Aso, once the votes get into the thousands, it takes quite a few to change a precentage point. We need to just keep hammering it.  ;)

Done. It seems that each day they get their lump of votes that keeps them where they are at percentage wise in the poll, it could be no more than 100 votes but it is very consistant.

On the other hand, it's hard to say that 100 or more people are voting each day for Cassie.

I suspect they have automated their voting with a computer somehow.  Our method still requires a real person and takes time.  A computer doing the same thing could vote many more times than a real person.

In my opinion, there is no way they could have more votes by real people.  I don't know anything about their program.  But I do know that we had almost 4000 show up for a game the other day, which set a NCAA record for attendance at a single regular season game.  It seems like we have broken the Bama attendance record several times the last year or so with several games in the 3000's.  Everyday I see voting reminders all over twitter and the internet from the coaches, players, web sites like ours, and other fans.  They must be using computers to vote.

Maybe we can figure out a way to level the playing field before it is too late.

I might be able to do something if I get a chance to look into it a little more.  The tough part will be bypassing those random numbers and letters that you have to type in to vote.  Of course there could be a back door that is wide open.  I will try to look into this week and see what I can figure out.

Yeah, the random numbers are used to prevent automation, from what I understand. That's why I can't understand why the gap keeps widening, unless they have more people doing what we're doing. If I lived in Hawaii, you can bet my azz wouldn't be sitting around spending time voting on the computer.  ;D

Yep, this is exactly why I suspect there might be a back door that is wide open, so to speak.  Maybe this week I can turn the door knob and see if it is locked.  If it isn't, then shame on them.

I did something today with the voting to see what would happen. I voted multiple times, 3, but instead of voting just for Cassie each time, I voted for the two lowest in the poll as well. Fernandez and Hansen and Cassie each raised .1% and Ricketts dropped .3%. I voted about 50 times and it didn't reflect it right away. Adding the other two girls might be a way of reducing Ricketts percent wise as well as increasing Cassies. I also increased my computer setting from 1KB to 1MB, not sure if this would make a difference or not, maybe SC knows more about this.  :dunno:

I have it voting once per second.  It seems to be catching up pretty fast when I have it running.  I will run it tonight and see how much ground we can make up.  If we are still not catching up fast enough I may give it out to some people to try to speed things along.  If we vote too fast or with too many people we will crash the server, which would not be good.

I am going to put away the big guns for now, but I can always bring them back out in full force if we need them.  It will be interesting to see what the Hawaii fans do next.

My preference would be for them to prevent such silliness, but apparently they lack the technical skills to do so.

I thought about making the lead so ridiculous that it forced them to address the issues, but I was concerned that they might just remove our votes and leave the other ones in place.

>:(

I also thought about making the program vote for everyone EXCEPT the girl from Hawaii to sort of cancel out her auto votes.  I may do that the next time.

Or maybe no one can auto vote any more and they deleted all of my votes but left everyone else's votes.  Let's see if their lead continues to increase or if it stays pretty much the same.  If they have closed all of the loop holes so that it requires a real person to vote Cassie might still win.  We are setting NCAA attendance records while those other schools only have around 500 people showing up at the games.

Just so you all understand the Hawaii fans have never used these auto vote programs, we do not cheat by voting more than once a day, all these votes you see are from our fans and supporters.  If we win that's great if we lose that's ok too, but we will do it on the up and up.

All I know is that it was a pretty close contest and then all of a sudden the Hawaii girl spiked up by about 10 points in the course of a couple of days.

While you may not be using a vote bot, someone for Hawaii was.  It looks like they have closed that loophole now though, and I'm glad they did.

Latest update is +7.1% for Bama in 4 hrs. That's impossible...especially when the voting was still hot at 11pm CT (Tuskaloosa, AL) on a Monday night. I've sent an email to Lowe's protesting what went on today. Might help to have others follow suit. If the Bama girl's supporters had any sense they would have done it in small increments.

Comment 132.

I see my plan worked.   8)

I voted 35,000 times that night because I WANTED to make it obvious to Lowe's that the voting had some serious issues so that they would hopefully fix them and we could have a FAIR contest.  If my goal was to win the contest for Cassie by cheating, I would have done exactly what they were doing and stayed under the radar.  I also would not have posted the fact that I voted for Cassie 35,000 times on a public web site so that anyone that knows how to use google could find out and delete my votes, which is apparently what they did.  I expected them to audit the votes and delete all of the extra votes though, not just ours.

The funny part is this same web site has tons of posts by the Hawaii fans talking about their different strategies for voting as many times as possible.  Then when someone else figures out what they are doing and levels the playing field they send in a complaint to Lowe's.  So they are all for cheating as long as it is working in their favor, but then when the tables are turned they cry foul.  Then come here and claim they weren't cheating in the first place.

 ;)

I think I like some of these Hawaii folks.

I would have never even thought to do this had it not been obvious that they were voting multiple times per day.  Once I had a little time to look into it, it was not hard to do at all.

I'm pretty sure Cassie would do well in a legitimate contest considering the attendance at Alabama games (3000 to 4000 per game, breaking records several times) vs. attendance to Hawaii games (498 per game in 2010).

Last Call, hold up on your boycott. I emailed Senior CLASS Award and this is the response from Laurie Bollig:

Thank you for your interest in the Lowe's Senior CLASS Award. We are aware of the issues with fan voting in softball. Please be assured that we are researching the voting history, and if we find that improper techniques were used to vote, we will adjust the totals accordingly. Please refer to the following link for voting terms and procedures: http://www.seniorclassaward.com/about/selection/.

Cool.  They gave us the name of the person at Lowe's that responded to them.  Now maybe we should point out to Lowe's that they need to go back and take a look at the Hawaii votes too.

After speaking with University of Hawaii media relations, it was confirmed thru their conversations with the Lowe's folks that they have CLEARED the softball voting of all ILLEGAL votes.

The percentages you see now, are all clean votes and the fact that Stephanie Ricketts is a large lead at 30+% after Lowe's cleared the illegal votes from all candidates, it is a testament to how Hawaii fans in Hawaii and on the mainland responded in support of Stephanie Ricketts.

This is fact direct from the people that manage the Lowe's Senior CLASS Award voting.

I don't think so.  I believe they missed quite a few illegal votes.  They only cleared the OBVIOUS ones that I sent in.

I just sent this to Lowes:

Quote
Now that I have your attention... :)

I am the Alabama fan that created the softball voting bot.  I did this because it was obvious that the Hawaii folks were doing something similar, spiking several percentage points in the course of a day.  Once I looked into it, sure enough it was trivial to cast multiple votes in a single day.

Had I only wanted my team to win I would have simply stayed under the radar like the Hawaii folks were doing.  This would have been very easy to do as well.  In fact I did that for a day or two initially just to probe and see if you had the ability to stop it, or where even aware of it.  When nothing happened, that is when it became obvious what was going on with the Hawaii fans.

I knew casting 35,000 votes over the course of a couple of hours one night would get your attention, and that there would be an outcry from these same Hawaii fans who were doing the same thing or something similar.  And just to make sure this didn't go unnoticed, I documented all of this publicly on our website so it could be found with a simple google search.

My intention was to make it obvious to EVERYONE that the voting was not fair and hopefully level the playing field.  I see that I succeeded, although further action is still needed.

Anonymous internet voting can always be skewed.  In fact, it is still trivial to vote multiple times per day right now even after you closed the particular loophole that I was using to vote so quickly.

ESPN had a similar issue with Texas A&M fans recently when they had a poll to see what college campus they should come to and film a Game Day commercial.  Their solution was to reset all of the votes and require you to log in to Facebook to vote.  I would suggest a similar strategy if you intend to have a fair contest.

As it stands right now, your results still contain 1,000's of illegal votes by Hawaii and Cal.  The only fair thing to do would be to reset all votes to 0 and require a Facebook login or something similar.  An even simpler solution would be to log the votes by IP address and only allow one vote per address per day, although this would prevent some legitimate votes.

Who knows, with a fair vote, one of the girls that are currently in single digits might even be able to win.

I would be happy to assist you in this matter in any way that I can.  My only goal is to have a fair vote, which we still do not have at this time.

I will ignore the slur, but you are correct that there where a few Hawaii fans that had voted more than once a day, the most that I know of was a few hundred.  When Lowes was contacted they corrected all duplicate votes including the one for the Hawaii girl, but if you want to believe that we are cheating then I suggest that you contact Lowes and let them know. If you would notice when they first made the correction to the total votes the Hawaii girl drop a few percentage points also, and that is because they threw out the duplicate votes for her also, I don't understand why the Alabama folks think that they have more softball fans then Hawaii has.  But as the voting goes on may the best player win.

You seem like a reasonable fan.  We only want a fair vote.  As I have proven, it only takes one guy with the appropriate computer skills to vote 35,000 times in a couple of hours.  I could have voted much more than that if I had wanted to.

The reason we think we have more softball fans, and the reason I became suspicious in the first place, is that we routinely have 3,000 to 4,000 fans at every home game.  A couple of weeks ago we set an NCAA attendance record of 3940 fans at a single game.  I checked a web site that has NCAA statistics on softball attendance and it said that Hawaii only had 498 fans per game in 2010, the last year that they had results for.  I then checked some box scores for some recent Hawaii games and it appeared the attendance range was around 500 to 1000 per game.  I believe I linked to the NCAA site earlier in this post somewhere if you care to take a look for yourself.

Our friends from "The Islands' must be asking themselves why Bama fans would be so concerned with a "Lowe's contest", considering our success in women's softball and the unparalleled sports history of The University of Alabama as a whole. For all intents and purposes this is a trivial matter in the overall reach of college athletics. The answer is simply this-- Our athlete is better than your athlete and deserves to be recognized.

Thank you SC for what you did. The voting was skewed and had been skewed for quite awhile before any of the multiple voting was started by some Bama fans including me. Lowes didn't catch anyone doing anything, it was Hawaii that alerted them as to what was going on by us so I don't feel bad about getting caught at anything, but I do have a problem with someone turning us in for something that they started and was doing the same thing.

Hawaii has a track record already for doing some things that aren't just right. The year that they came to Tuscaloosa and beat us with a last inning home run to knock Bama out of a trip to the College World Series is something I will always remember. They led the nation in home runs that year but was found to have been using a "hot" bat, composite material, to accomplish this feat.

None of this would have happened had Hawaii and California not started their schemes and then opened Lowes eyes to someone that that was cheating better than they were. I am with you on cleaning the slate and starting the voting over but Lowes needs to do a better job of monitoring anyone doing multiple voting and not have to depend on a cheater to turn another cheater in. JMO  ;)

JMO  ;)

That sir is not true, we used the same bat as a lot of other schools used, and for your information the bat that was used to hit that homerun was taken by the NCAA which in turn was cut up so that they could indeed inspect it, there was nothing found illegal about the bat.  I understand how upset you are in the fact that you got beat by a lowly school out in the middle of the ocean but the fact is you did and you can't handle it, but that's cool also.

I also resent the fact that you spread rumors that Hawaii has a track record already for doing some things that aren't just right, if you proof of this please tell us???

One thing about the number of fans, you are correct that our attendance is an average of about 900 fans, but you must understand that all of our home game are televised throughout the state and live steamed back to the mainland, the stats show that all games have a viewer-ship of about 250,000 viewers and another 25,000 to 30,000 who watch the live stream, so say just half of those vote just once a day you may see why our player has the numbers she has.  But we all agree that we want nothing but an honest vote.

The poster children for the home run explosion are the Hawaii Wahine, who homered their way to the World Series while using an outdated, 2005-model Easton Stealth bat. Since composite bats - made of carbon fibers instead of alloys like aluminum - hit balls harder and farther as they break in with more use, those bats had aged like a bottle of fine Pinot noir wine.

"It was just too old," Alabama coach Patrick Murphy said of the bat model Hawaii used. "The more you used it, the hotter it got.

back in the late 1930's early 1940's , did Hawaii ever play Japan in softball ?

We got caught because I wasn't trying to hide it.  I could have easily gone undetected if I had wanted too.  In fact I have no doubt that there is still at least one other way to do this, and they would not be able to distinguish between real votes vs. illegal votes.  And who is to say that I vote for Cassie with this new scheme?  A better approach might be to vote for the Hawaii girl, or even some other girl, then once the contest is over post the source code and how I did it as proof that the contest was never fair to begin with.  That would be a marketing/PR nightmare for Lowe's if that happened, especially considering that they know the voting isn't fair and chose not to do anything about it.  Even worse, they helped skew the results by deleting illegal votes for some schools but not others.

I know the people from Lowe's have visited this site.  The Hawaii people sent them a link to this post.  All we want is a FAIR contest.  If the rules say that you can only vote once per day, then we expect that to be enforced equally among all schools.  The Hawaii fans have admitted to voting 100's of times per day.  And even right now there is nothing stopping them or anyone else from continuing to vote as many times as they want as long as you are willing to type in the captcha code.  All I did was make it obvious to everyone that the voting was never fair.

There are many Bama fans who will only vote once per day because that is the rule, regardless of what everyone else is doing.  If you are going to allow people to vote all they want and not do anything about it, then you need to change the rule so that ALL fans can do the same thing, especially those who would never break the rules in the first place.  The way the contest is setup now it punishes the honest fans and allows the cheaters to win.

It really doesn't bother me one bit if we lost in a fair contest.  That happens every day.  But it burns me up to see an Alabama girl lose because the other school is clearly cheating (and even admitted to it), and the people running the contest looked the other way because they lacked the technical expertise to stop them.

You raise an excellent point about the TV viewership.  I had not considered that.  I don't live in the Tuscaloosa area, so I really can't speak about the local TV audience.  However I do know that I have watched our girls on ESPN several times this year though.  In fact they will be on ESPN2 tonight and ESPNU tomorrow if I am not mistaken.  You can routinely catch an Alabama softball game on TV from pretty much anywhere in the world.  If ya'll get ESPN out there you should check out the Bama/Florida series this weekend that will determine the SEC champ.  It should be a good series.

The bat issue speaks for itself as what it is to to your track record, just read the post below for the explanation of it and maybe you can understand more of why composite bats aren't allowed anymore or you may contact Coach Pat Murphy and ask him about the legality of your teams bats that year. As for the voting scheme, your school started it and then reported another school for doing the same thing, do you see anything wrong with that? Probably not!!  :dunno:

Hypothetically speaking ...

if there was a guy that had a friend that worked for a company
errr... lets say like Lowes for instance

and the said hypothetical friend was a higher up in the Lowes HR dept.

and the hypothetical guy told the hypothetical HR friend about all of this
and the hypothetical friend was hypothetically amazed at what went on

would it be hypothetically out of bounds to offer further assistance in
the matter if the hypothetical Lowes HR friend ask for it ?

and say what if the hypothetical HR friend says that a hypothetical guy
named SUPERCOACH did a great job exposing the hypothetical voting fraud .
would he be obligated to hypothetically help the HR friend if asked to ?

 hypothetically speaking of course ....

Thank you for contacting us about the Lowe's Senior CLASS Award for softball. We have investigated the fraudulent voting and have removed the votes that were cast illegally from ALL schools. The current percentages are accurately reflected on our website.

Fan voting is one component of this award. Division I head coaches and national media make up the other two-thirds of the point total needed to declare a winner.

In the future, we encourage you to support Alabama student-athletes in a manner that befits their strong performances in the community and the classroom as well as on the field.

I can't speak for the hypothetical SUPERCOACH, but the real one is glad to help anyone at Lowes in any manner that I can.  If they don't have the technical people on staff to stop it, they should at least change the rule and say that you can vote as many times as you want so that it matches reality.  That would take maybe 5 minutes to update the web page that has the rules on it.

I tested the new server.  You can still vote as many times as you want.

I have noticed that since they shut down the auto vote loop hole I was using that the percentages have not moved hardly at all in several days.  Maybe 0.1% every now and then.  This further proves that the Hawaii folks were using an auto vote program.  If they really had all of those fans they claim to have they would still be inching up away from every body.

Well, they've finally caught up with you.  You're probably  now on the "10 most wanted" list. 8)

I've rebooted but I still get the same screen and message

Yeah, it's a little strange, maybe SC might have an idea. I don't get an error code just that message as if my link to Microsoft was down and if that was the case I wouldn't be on here now.

It looks like their site is down at the moment.  I can't get to it at all right now.

You guys must have tripped their burglar alarm.  :dunno:

The numbers have not changed at all in a while.  This proves that the Hawaii votes came from an auto vote program that ran up a big league.

It says as much for California as well. It really sucks that they are letting Hawaii steal this thing though.

You know I have spent a lot of money at Lowes over the years, I replaced 19 windows in my house with the plastic ones 2 years ago and Lowes did it for me but that won't happen again, Home Depot will get my money from now on. I guess I average going to Lowes 2-3 times a week.

Title: Re: Vote for Cassie Reilly-Boccia
Post by: SUPERCOACH on May 06, 2012, 12:27:18 PM
I am fairly certain that I could make another program to auto vote, but unfortunately I am pretty busy with work right now and I don't think I will have time to do it before the voting ends.  If I had time to make another one, I was thinking about just having it vote for all of the girls until they had the exact same percentage.

At this point, if we want a fair contest we are probably going to have to start a social media campaign and/or write letters to Lowe's.  I don't think Lowe's is actually running the contest, I think they hired it out to this Premier Sports Management company that is listed at the bottom of the page.

They are claiming that the Hawaii votes are legit, when it is obvious to everyone of us who watched them spike ahead so quickly that they are not.  Maybe someone could write a letter explaining why losing to Hawaii because they are cheating will not go over so well with ANY Alabama softball fan, and send a link to that article about the hot bats.

It is obvious that they can't distinguish between legit votes and illegal votes, since even now you can vote as many times as you want.

Maybe we should all get on our twitter accounts and launch a campaign using the hashtag #lowesnoclassaward

He probably was not aware of that proof.  It is hard to argue with those before and after statistics.  The interesting thing to me is that the "cheaters from the SEC" had basically the same numbers before and after the bats were being tested before each game.

Well I heard back from them.  It appears they are going to keep their head in the sand and pretend everything is legit.  That is their story and they are sticking to it.

I just checked again and of course nothing has changed.  You can still vote as many times as you want.

Quote
Thank you for contacting us about the Lowe's Senior CLASS Award for softball. We have investigated the fraudulent voting and have removed the votes that were cast illegally from ALL schools. The current percentages are accurately reflected on our website.

Fan voting is one component of this award. Division I head coaches and national media make up the other two-thirds of the point total needed to declare a winner.

In the future, we encourage you to support Alabama student-athletes in a manner that befits their strong performances in the community and the classroom as well as on the field.

Regards,

Laurie Bollig

And here is my reply:

Respectfully, we do not believe for one second that ALL the illegal votes were removed.  You only removed the obvious illegal votes, such as the 35,000 I created with the auto vote program (and documented publicly).  The fact that the numbers have not changed much at all in recent days only goes to prove that the current lead was achieved by voting multiple times per day, either manually or using a much more subtle auto vote program that does not raise any red flags by voting 4 times per second.

To be clear, I do not want the girl from Alabama to win by cheating.  But by the same token, I do not want her to lose because of cheating either, especially to someone from Hawaii.  There is a little history between the two schools that you are probably unaware of.  A couple of years ago Hawaii knocked #1 Alabama out of a trip to the College World Series because they were using illegal bats.  Here is a link to a newspaper article that explains what happened:  http://alabama.rivals.com/content.asp?CID=1223450  I suggest you read it to understand why Alabama fans are so irate at the prospect of losing to Hawaii in this contest because of cheating.

While the Hawaii fans may or may not have been using an auto vote program (I don't know), they have ADMITTED to voting 100's of times per day using a manual process.  That manual process still works to this day.  I just voted twice in spite of the fact that you have banned me from the site by the IP address that was used by the auto vote program.  There are numerous ways to accomplish this, one of which is documented publicly on the very same forum topic where I disclosed that I voted 35,000 times with an auto vote program.

There is no way the outcome of this contest can be fair or trusted unless:

1)  All of the security holes are closed.

-AND-

2)  All votes are reset to 0 and the contest is restarted with a level playing field.

I am happy to work with you (free of charge) to help identify the remaining security holes.  I know of at least 2 security holes, 1 of which would allow me to write another auto vote program if I were so inclined.  And if I am aware of these security issues, you can bet there are people in the world much smarter than me that are aware of them as well.

I encourage you to have a contest befitting the honesty and integrity displayed by all of the girls that have been nominated, and that includes the girl from Hawaii.  These girls deserve a fair contest.

Nothing is going to change here unless the Alabama fans complain in enough numbers to be heard.  There is a contact us link on the bottom of the voting site.  I suggest you let your voices be heard.

I have seen dozens of comments all over the internet from the Hawaii fans that complained when my auto vote program took the lead.  They even got the University of Hawaii Media Relations department involved.  Maybe we should do the same thing.  Otherwise they are going to "pretend" that they removed all of the illegal votes, when we know full well they did not.  We sat here and watched the Hawaii lead spike up, just like they did when I started the auto vote program.  That is what prompted me to probe their security in the first place.

I smell a rat. A few weeks ago, I noticed a big spike in Stephanie Ricketts numbers. Then, I noticed a spike in one day in Valerie Arioto's numbers. Last week or so, a big spike in Cassie Reilly-Boccia's numbers. A day or so later, Reilly-Boccia's numbers took a big crash, but not the case with the other 2 girls. What gives? I'll bet you dollars to donuts that the Alabama softball team has a much bigger following and voting crowd than Hawaii or Cal. Sounds like auto voting occurred involving all 3 of the girls, but only one was caught or penalized. Might I suggest you look into the other 2. I suspect you will find foul play. Just looking for a fair outcome here. Sounds like you need to close some back doors on the voting access and either recount ACTUAL votes or start the voting over without the loopholes.

Premier Sports Mgt. may be to blame, but since Lowe's reaps the rewards of the advertising, they should also shoulder the blame for running a cheating scandal contest.
I have provided links to your contest to CNN.COM and FOXNEWS.COM in bringing light to the "bot" voting in rigging the softball voting by the University of Hawaii.  http://www.seniorclassaward.com/vote/softball_2012/
If you are certain you have done all possible to assure fairness, then so be it.

Yes, the bats were illegal.

Title: Re: Vote for Cassie Reilly-Boccia

From the article:

Quote
At issue is an exit speed rating of 98 mph, the maximum allowed.

It does not matter whether or not the bat model was on a ban list.  Any individual bat that has an exit speed > 98 is illegal, even if the model itself is approved.  Bats can even be legal at the beginning of the season and then become illegal later on in the year as they are broken in.  Once they exceed 98 they are illegal.

You can't cheat your way into becoming a NCAA behemoth. But it must reduce Hawaii to lava ashes to finally be cited at the top of an NCAA category, only to find themselves engulfed in dark clouds of suspicion.

Yes, the bats were illegal.
And do you have any written proof of this???  The bat that Jenna Rodriguez used to beat Bama that year was sent to the NCAA for testing using the compression tester and also was cut apart to inspect the inside, and the bat was deemed a legal bat.   :deadhorse:

But lets get back to the voting, I noticed that you still insist that Hawaii must have been using some kind of bot like you used, we have also written to the lowe's asking them to check all votes for each girl and received a email back saying that they are doing such and at this time all votes shown are legal votes.

But I doubt that that will appease some of the Bama fans.

Abrahamson can't reveal exactly which bats failed inspection after last year's World Series, but the numbers tell the story. Hawaii hit 62 home runs in 2009, before switching to the Easton model, then hit nearly 100 more last season. This year, with the 2005 Easton Stealth not approved for use, the Wahine hit all of 56 home runs.

Of course I don't have written proof.  But statistics don't lie.  Do you expect us to believe that a jump from 62 home runs without the bat, to 158 home runs with the bat, then back down to 56 again without it, is legitimate?

Similarly, I have no proof that the Hawaii fans were using an auto vote program.  But there was a tight back and forth race with 3 girls hovering pretty close together, then all of a sudden the girl from Hawaii began to pull away to a huge lead.  This is what prompted me to investigate and probe their security in the first place.  I was shocked at how trivial it was to catch up.  Now that they have closed down the loophole that I was using, suddenly the voting has stabilized again with hardly any movement in either direction.

It really depends on what the word "none" is referring to.  Since this sentence refers to a plural, "finalists," either form of the verb is considered acceptable.  Initially, "none" was considered by some to be a contraction of "not one," which is always singular.  However, these days either singular or plural is considered OK if the context is a plural.

Interesting.  I always thought you ignored the prepositional phrase, but a little digging uncovered an exception to this rule when using indefinite pronouns:

Quote
4.      Remember the indefinite pronoun EXCEPTIONS considered in Section 3.5, p.18:  Some, Any, None, All, and Most.  The number of these subject words IS affected by a prepositional phrase between the subject and verb.

4.      Remember the indefinite pronoun EXCEPTIONS considered in Section 3.5, p.18:  Some, Any, None, All, and Most.  The number of these subject words IS affected by a prepositional phrase between the subject and verb.

From here, for those that are interested:  http://www.towson.edu/ows/moduleSVAGR.htm

Sigh.   :wall:
Just change the grammar rules if the populace can't learn them.
Half the population thinks "There's" is okay with plural phrases: "There's dozens of recruits interested in Aubrun."

At least someone had vision and created a solution for it in Spanish: "Hay".

It all started the first day of class, 3rd grade, Mrs. Humberger's class.  I'll never forgive that yardstick-totin' woman.

Yep, Lowes should be very proud to advertise this mess. We still vote via the cell phone but who knows if the votes are being counted. I would be more interested in knowing the number of votes for each player versus the percentage of the votes.  :dunno:

I have seen the numbers tick up or down by 0.1% from time to time.  Isn't it amazing how, once they closed the loop hole I exploited, NO ONE receives enough votes to actually change the percentages?

I think we should direct all of our complaints to Lowe's corporate by sending an email to this address:  customercare@lowes.com

I find it difficult to think Lowes would still have their name associated with this?

Hey I don't know how to show you all my sent program or message but I just sent an e-mail to the Lowe's e-mail address. I hope it works some. RTR!

All fun and games until you go to Lowe's to find your name posted beside the lists of bad check writers and shoplifters. :o

I don't use Lowe's. We have always bought our materials from Home Depot. I am not happy HD but their prices are much more competitive. RTR!

Well I voted but it seems Cassie is stuck on 18%. The girl from Hawaii is at 30%, I wonder if those votes are all legal? RTR!
