Title: Basketball @ Auburn - Wed 2/21 - SECN 7:30PM
Post by: Hannibal Lecter, MD on February 21, 2018, 07:21:49 PM
Bama is a big underdog (+7) down on the Plains tonight, with only a 20.6% chance to win according to ESPN's binary-based crystal ball.

Auburn is down to 7 scholarship players available after Mustapha Heron has been ruled out with the squirts, and their starting center (McLemore) out for the year after surgery. Their leading scorer, Bryce Brown, is also rolling on a gimpy foot.

Auburn jumped out to a quick 14-2 lead after hitting four 3s, including one from Opelika and one from Montgomery.

Bama has worked it back to a 30-30 tie with three minutes left to play in the first half.  The boo birds are out in the arena...it's a heart-warming sound!!!

40-35 Auburn at the half.  We have to hold them to 30 points in the second half to give ourselves a shot, and I'm not sure that we can.  Hope so!

Bama down by 9 with 10 mins left in the game.  Gonna take a huge effort to win this one.

May be tough to get to 20 wins after tonight.

Very disappointing performance in the second half.  Getting outworked by Auburn, and it's not really even close.

I'm going to take solace that this Auburn win will be vacated soon enough.

I finally had to turn it off with about 4 minutes to go.  Auburn plays with so much more heart than Alabama.

Barn was playing at home and maybe that explains some of their "heart", but not all of it. So Hanni has a point.

I generally don't think there are a lot of good lessons to be learned from losses, but I keep hoping that losses like KY will trigger whatever is missing with this team.  Gonna be hard to get to 20 wins now.  We may get into the big dance with less than 20 but to me, it's not a sure thing.  NZAA can still screw us.

I certainly wasn't just referring to last night when I said Auburn plays with more heart, or at least it has appeared that way by each team's comparative energy in almost every game this year.

Out hustled, out worked both offensively and defensively.  Every time Bama got close AU would pull away usually by Bama errors.  AU looks like they have fun when they play so they play more relaxed.
