Thanks, Coach. Great analysis. Bama substituted early and often last night. That doesn't excuse the lackluster performance, but it had an effect, I'm sure. One thing is for sure, Bama does not historically play well after big wins, against cupcakes.

2008 - 20-6 over Tulane after beating Clemson.
2008 - 17-14 over Kentucky after beating Georgia in the "Blackout" game.
2009 - 40-14 over Fla. International in an unimpressive win after beating VT.
2011 - 45-21 over Ga. Southern after cruising through everybody.
2012 - 35-0 over WKU in another sloppy win.

Bama just does not play their best against inferior teams. They did not impress against VT, but came back and beat A&M at their house. We were certainly less than impressive last night against CSU. I don't think Bama takes Ole Miss lightly and will once again right the ship.

If there is a real concern, it is with the DB's and Bo Wallace may very well exploit them next week. However, I think the O will step up like it did with A&M, and dominate Ole Miss.

After next week, we should have plenty of time to improve before meeting LSU, without really being tested.

Very good points.  They did rotate many players in especially on D.

I also forgot to mention the yards Jones saved Bama on those bouncing punts.

I think the reason for many of the substitutions were because Saban & the other coaches are trying to find different combinations which might work better, especially in the defensive backfield.

I hear what ya'll are saying but we are through our 3rd game and we still do not have that identity that we search for each year. Ole Miss will be different but LSU is going to be a defeat if we do not play to our best. LSU and Bama always seem to win and the other ones place. It use to kill me. RTR!

I know this is going to sound like hyper-homerism, but I really wouldn't be surprised if the game planning for games like CSU is driven both by a desire to work out different players, but also to make film study against us difficult, complicated, and ultimately useless to our major opponents. Think about being a OC/DC at Ole Miss and watching the replay of the CSU game. What did you see that you can take back to the team and use to prep. We played a half dozen DBs and they were moved all over the field. We played 4 or 5 running backs. We didn't check out to a pass play when the Rams put 8 in the box. There was very little stunting on the O-line. We effectively rendered the tape of that game useless. I think that CNS knows that the reality of being in our position is that you cannot win if everybody you play has reels of tape on you and you show everything you've got in the playbook. We have a 3 game season, and SECCG and the NCG. The rest is nationally televised scrimmage.

The only thing is, and I held to your theory after the VT game, is that everyone will be looking at the A&M game film. That's the only thing they can learn anything about the offense. I think they can take their pick of games to study the "D".

There's hiding what we do well and obscuring what we do poorly. As for the D, it's probably the latter. But......If I wanted to give myself a shot at intercepting the ball, I'd show off getting beat on that WR screen two or three times (as we did on Sat.) and bait the next opponent into throwing a ball in the flat when we are sitting on that route.

One thing for certain:
This time next week we'll know if we're cruising toward LSU or facing an average year.  We just don't know yet.  Will this team ever gel??

Ole Miss will try to win with the short game on offense.  Hugh Freeze is the king of dink passes and screens, with runs by speedy RBs thrown in to keep the D honest.  If we play against OM with the same D we had on the field against CSU, we'll have a long night.

The Ole Miss defense is energetic, hungry, and runs to the ball well.  They are young, but very talented in most positions.  But they have players who we can exploit.  We should be able to connect to receivers for big plays; expect the OM defense to play us like CSU did (gamble with 8-man fronts periodically).

Congrats to CSU for playing well, tackling well, and losing.
May Ole Miss do the same!

I understand that players often can't get up for a pushover team.  I can't understand why they don't rise to the occasion during the game after the poor opponent pushes them around.

I know what you are saying, but what happened to going out and proving you are the best each week?  Have we become to harsh because of the success of Bama?
