Title: Bama Hoops
Post by: pmull on November 26, 2020, 10:21:59 AM

Bama Hoops got off to a good start last night beating Jacksonville St 81-57.  Jahvon Quinerly looks like a very capable point guard to replace Kira Lewis. He had 18 pts, 3 assists and only one turnover in 26 minutes. Shackleford and Herb Jones both had double doubles. Shack had 18 points and 11 boards. Herb had 12 points and 12 boards. Petty scored in double figures with 14 pts. Rojas and Bruner look like better big guys than we are used to seeing. Very active on both ends of the floor. Freshman Primo showed why he was so highly recruited getting 17 minutes and 5 pts.

The team shot 39% from the field (23% on 3's). 70% from the FT line. We had 10 turnovers but forced 20 from Jax St. We out rebounded them 55-49. One concern was Jax St got 20 of their 49 boards on the offensive end. We also had 20 off boards.

A good way to start the season. We play Stanford next on Monday 11/30 in the Maui Classic which is being held in Ashville, NC.

Thanks so much pmull for the report. I do however, say I am surprised. I actually thought we would beat them by a wider score. Then again it is pretty much a new team and first game. RTR!

We were up by 34 with about 5 minutes to play when we emptied our bench.
