Just checked the box score/stats: Bama shot 14 free throw and made 8. PSU shot 26 free throws and made 19 and 11 point difference. This stat alone shows where the game was lost. The teams were practically even on FG% and 3 pt shooting %. Twenty two foul vs 14 fouls.
Penn St got the calls as home teams normally do.We were outmanned in my opinion. We stayed in the game with hustle and scrappy play. That cost us a few fouls. They were much bigger than us but the rebounds were about the same. We lost the rebound edge by three 50-47 but had 3 more offensive rebounds 14-11. Shot 14 more shots than PSU. We outscored them in the paint 36-22.
We out played PSU most of the game. We were down by 1 with the ball with 12 seconds to play and could not get off a good shot. PSU had fouls to give so they fouled us twice before we got to the bonus so we only had 2.5 seconds for our last shot which we missed.
We are getting better each game. A lot of new faces are getting playing time. The team is exciting to watch. We have multiple scorers for the first time in years. We most likely will not make the NCAA Tournament this year but we will be a tough out for SEC teams especially at home. We have to be patience this year and let Coach Oats get his system and players in place.
