"I knew they were going to count on me. I knew there were going to be ups and downs and that it was going to be a fight." Richardson enjoyed his best statistical performance at Alabama that day. He led the Tide to a 24-3 win against the Nittany Lions thanks to career highs in carries (22) and rushing yards (144). He also scored a touchdown. What did Richardson do to fuel his soul 30 minutes before he ran onto the field? "I was probably praying," Richardson said. "I'm thinking of everything. If I'm in the backfield, I've got to get the first down if it's third or fourth. My fingernails will be nubs by the end of the game..I will throw my cap in the floor at least 4 times on bonehead plays, and my wife will chastise me for it..I will not get up until half time..I will tape the game for later replay or Heaven forbid, remorse.
