Title: Alabama gymnasts win their fifth national championship
Post by: pmull on April 16, 2011, 05:58:54 PM
Don't look now, but the Alabama gymnastics team that looked too young before the season never looked better than it did today.

The Crimson Tide won its fifth national championship in Cleveland, and two of the gymnasts that led the way were newcomers.

Freshman Kim Jacob won the balance beam competition with a score of 9.95, freshman Diandra Milliner tied senior teammate Kayla Hoffman for first place on the vault with a score of 9.95 and Alabama went on to finish first in the Super Six competition, scoring a 197.650.

Alabama finishes out the season on Sunday with individual event finals starting at 1 p.m. EDT when six UA gymnasts will compete on 12 events.

It looks like we have 12 more chances to win some individual national championships to go with it.

Don't count any of them out. These girls are good.

If some of them can repeat those 9.95's they had today they are sure to win at least a few.
