Title: Chipper Jones and the Atlanta Braves
Post by: Marshal Dillon on March 03, 2011, 12:03:58 PM
He will be playing his first game today, since he was injured lat year. I think he's 38 and it may be team for him to just go hunting instead of trying to play. What do you all think?

Hunting for what?  ;)

Who knows, maybe he has another run in him, but I think he's done.

He's a big time outdoors guy. He goes hunting in either Wyoming or Montana.

He has had a great run but he's been hurt a lot the past few years. As a business I would probably let him go a long time ago. As a player I wouldn't want people telling me when I had to hang it up. If he can play somewhere else great but I wouldn't keep him around. JHO

I was making a funny about his historical indiscretions with the ladies.

Chipper was great in his Day but he is getting old for a player and I may be wrong but I don't think he has the pop he use to have. If he can play a first base type and maybe pick up a few game winning RBI's he would earn his rewards. RTR!

I thought he retired after the injury.  Did he Favre-retire or have I forgotten?

He was suppose to retire after last year. However, when he got injuried he decided he was going to go out on his own terms.

Thanks for the clarification.  I like him, so glad he'll play another year.  I'm hoping for a pennant this year.

I really like Chipper. I started watching and cheering for the Braves about 1995.  Gone to a few games and there is something special about Chipper. He brings a sense of excitement. I do hope he retires after this year but I hope the Braves hire him in some management capacity. He's spent his entire career with the Braves - something not many players can say.

"Good afternoon, T."

I think Chipper is a certainty for management with the Braves.  Good call.

Good afternoon!

Man, some of you have been busy bees.. ya'lls post counts are impressive :)

I wish Chipper could be the Manager - it won't happen, at least not for a while, but I think it would be great for the team.

I'm 55 and I can play for the Braves.

If they keep spending money, you may get a chance.

The oil price keeps going up and they can't afford me.

I hope they spend that money on a closer since Wagner retired.

Good pitching keeps you in most games. Look what they did last year.
