Quote
BIRMINGHAM, Alabama -- So much is wrong with college football lately that tests the faith of fans, who these days wait for conclusions in scandal after scandal. Let's pause for a moment and celebrate something worth cheering about: neutral-site games that, in our society of immediate gratifcation, generate instant excitement.

In a perfect world, these attractive matchups would be played on campus, where college football belongs. But beggars can't be choosers. Without these made-for-TV, off-campus games, Lee Corso would spend Week 1 mulling whether to wear a Hurricanes or Terrapins helmet.

Next week brings us No. 3 Oregon vs. No. 4 LSU in Dallas and No. 5 Boise State vs. No. 19 Georgia in Atlanta. The remaining Week 1 schedule "features" games you might find during bowl season at locales like Boise, El Paso and Birmingham: South Florida-Notre Dame, South Carolina-East Carolina, BYU-Ole Miss, Minnesota-USC and Maryland-Miami.

Wonder what our regular season neutral record is. I think Bama has done pretty good.

I can think of 4.

We beat tOSU at the meadowlands in the 80's.

Lost to FSU in 2007.

Beat CLemson and Va Tech in ATL.

3-1.

I feel certain there are more.

All bowl games are neutral-site. Do they count?

Alabama neutral-site record against the barn is 30-19-1. All of those games were in B'ham except 4 that was played in Montgomery.
