I saw both of them years ago in downtown Tuscaloosa when they were opening somebody's new store near the bridge. Too bad they broke up with bad feelings. At one point Flatt sued Scruggs. (Say that a few times fast and it gets a bit rude.)

I think it might have been a love triangle with Martha White in the middle. Wink

Was she plain or self rising? (Flour)  Laughing
Better biscuits, cakes, and pies,
With Martha Whites' self risin' flour,
...

BTW, FT. BAMAWV is a Hudson Cream encampment.

I think it had something to do with hot rise.

They had a band named Hot Rize.  Also "Hot Rize" is the name of the water/yeast agent they ( the fine folks of Martha White) felt made biscuits  better. I guess due to the tweaking by the Hot Rize leavening agent.

The woman understands ALL of this. All I know is this: If she tells me something about baking, I just write it down in my little book.

You should always insist that she prove it by baking a sample batch.  HTH.

What other forum would turn a thread on Earl Scruggs' death into a discussion about baking biscuits?

Biscuits were a good choice. It could have been Goodies headache powders.
