All due respect to teams in the East, but the conference’s best bets to run its Bowl Championship Series title streak to six years are in the West. Alabama and LSU, national champions in 2007 and ’09 respectively, are consensus top-10 teams. The Crimson Tide returns seven starters on a defense that should rank among the best in the country. LSU, with a good mix of players back on both sides of the ball and one last chance for quarterback Jordan Jefferson, are right there too. Both teams have question marks (quarterback for Alabama and, well, quarterback for LSU), but their strengths more than make up for them. The West had the four best teams in the league last year and is home to the last two national champions (Alabama and Auburn). If a team can navigate that minefield again, it will be in the mix for the BCS title.

If the Tide is on a mission this year like I think they will, I think they'll take it all. They have 4 motivations going for them:

1) Winning for the community after the disastrous tornado
2) Winning for Carson Tinker
3) LSU game revenge
4) Auburn game revenge

47 days til kickoff. Let the azz kicking begin!

One of many good things about this upcoming season is that the Tide gets two of its three biggest division contests at home this year, with Arky and the Who coming to T-town. Still have to go to the barn and FLA and Starkville, but also get UcheaT at home, too.

The schedule sets up much easier this year. Only three teams have a bye before they play us this year and one of them is LSU. That is offset since we also have a bye the same week. We will also have a chip on our shoulder like we did in 2009. We need to stay healthy. We played banged up most of last year. Specifically on the offensive and defensive line. The Mich St game is what a heathy Bama team looks like.

One thing I am not worried about for our season is #2 thru #12. Last year broke my Spirit about looking ahead, because I knew we was better than Auburn and LSU. I hope we have the hunger for these 2 games in the first game and continue 1 game at a time. I feel there should be a "BIG *" by the Auburn game. I am looking to be 1-0 in the first game. RTR!
