Title: The Lore of Jalen Hurts...
Post by: carl childers on December 01, 2018, 08:59:49 PM
After a little reflection, I have to say this. To me the biggest story about this game isn't winning the game or a championship - it's Jalen Hurts. He could have easily quit or become a cancer, but he was the ultimate team player and leader who bided his time and made the most of an opportunity. What a great example for anybody out there. Hold your head high, keep working and never quit. I don't know what will happen the rest of this year, or what Jalen decides to do next year. What I do know is he is one of my favorite players of all time because of how he has done things, and will go down in Bama lore as a hero. Congrats, Jalen Hurts. You are a great leader.

Very well said, Carl. What a fantastic example of character Jalen is. The youth of this country could learn a great deal from him.

Jalen's not a bad quarterback, either!

Absolutely agree. Jalen will be remembered as one of the special ones to to wear the crimson and white.

As a matter of fact, Jalens hand and cleat prints should be imortalized at Denny Chimes.

Kudos @JalenHurts - life & this game is a process/journey - filled w/ setbacks & triumphs - but too often ppl miss some of their greatest triumphs by giving up after the setbacks!! 1 of greatest assets ANY person can have is “perseverance”! well done young man, enjoy the moment!

As you'll hear elsewhere on a video:

"You, Jalen, didn't give up on yourself, your team, or your school."

What does the future hold? You may see this young man roaming the sidelines one day here on the Capstone! RTR!

I've heard Jalen wants to coach.

There's no better coach in America than Saban.  And Jalen has a front-row seat.

I'm not so sure that I would want him as our head coach.  Time will tell what kind, if at all, coach he will be.  But to me, his demeanor is too calm, cool, and collected to be the coach that we all want at Bama.  I love to see Coach Saban get his dander up and chew out the players or his assistants. I can envision Jalen being more of the soft-spoken type more like Mike Shula... As a player, especially a QB, that demeanor is great, just not what I would want in my head coach...

Sorry, just the way I see it...

Baby steps. Let's start out as a grad asst, if he doesn't make the NFL.

I never suggested he'd be head coach at Alabama.  Yeah, baby steps.
But already his demeanor is waaaaay better suited for coaching than Kiffin, Mulligan-boy, etc.  Parents would be proud to send their sons to play for him.

Jalen's still young.  It takes a few years to develop that crust.

And hopefully all of this praise convinces him to stay another year and FINISH his career with Alabama.

The name Jalen Hurts is going to be invoked by every coach in every locker room in every sport from now till the end of time.

And should be.
