Title: Alabama should heed warnings of 2009 in Tennessee game (Blogger roundtable)

On paper, Tennessee doesn't appear to have the horsepower to even make the first half competitive against this Alabama team. After this game, Bama gets a week off and extra time to heal and prepare for the SEC West Showdown of the Century with LSU.

That should sound familiar--Alabama was undefeated in 2009, playing Tennessee before a week off with everyone looking ahead to a division showdown with a one-loss LSU.

So is there going to be the same letdown Saturday? I think not. This team is having fun and playing to such a high level every game because it is fun to those guys. Look at TR's face every time you see him. He has an ear-splitting grin. He's having fun. They all are. They will have to hold the score down by emptying the bench in the 3rd Q. Not sure if that'll even do it. They are having fun also. It's great to be a Bama fan. RTR!!!

Bama is playing against themselves, keeping their national defensive records and Richardson's chance for a Heisman. The Vols are just there as spectators.

Well said, OT.
E-cred for saying it.  ;)

I know we have the talent and the drive but I HOPE we don't let our confidence hurt us this week.  I have no doubt about us winning - I just hope Bama plays with intensity for the entire 4 quarters :)

I'm down here in central FL in gatorland so I don't know what the real mood up there is.  There has been too little talk about this game in the press and even on this board this week.  Lots of talk about what to name the defense, TR for heisman, LSU, etc.   CNS seems focused on this week's game and I hope that rubs off on the team.

I remember many Tenn games from years past when we were the superior team but they played us close and tough.  In games like that, one mental lapse on one play in 4th qtr can cost you the game.  You guys are very confident.  I hope not too confident.

One of the reasons I am confident is because CNS is not the least bit distracted and I don't think the team is either.  This team just has a different feel to it than that 2009 team.  I was very concerned each week that year up until we made it to the off week.

I agree.  This team is the most complete Bama team I've seen in my life.  Even our good teams in the past seemed to struggle with Vanderbilt and Ole Miss.  Even when this team isn't playing as well as we know they can they're dominating.  Also important is that the backups have gotten significant second-half playing time in almost every game this year, meaning the starters shouldn't be as tired as they were in the Tennessee game two years ago.

This team is more talented, bigger, faster, and stronger than anyone else and playing mad from last year's Iron Bowl embarrassment.  I don't see them letting Tennessee hang around.

^This. Last year, even before Bama lost to SC, CNS was wringing hands and gnashing teeth. He knew there were deficiencies. Complete opposite this year. He has nothing but praise for the players this year and his demeanor is surreally calm. He knows what he has and he may have the best college football team ever. A letdown in this game would be a 28-14 Bama win. I may not be ecstatic about that, but I'd take it.
