Quote
The University of Alabama basketball season hadn't been over for 24 hours before the Crimson Tide's star forward, JaMychal Green, was telling his Twitter followers he "couldn't believe it had ended so soon." The season hadn't been over 48 hours before Green said he was "ready to take some shots again."

Thousands of Alabama fans are ready for it, too.

In wrapping up the 2011 basketball season, perhaps the biggest accomplishment of all for this team was it made Tide fans look forward to basketball again. UA's run in the NIT ended one game short of a championship, but it didn't end before the buzz was back in a city and a fanbase that cares a lot more about basketball than casual observers realize.

UA fans didn't want 2011 to end - and, like Green, are ready for 2012 to begin.

So what exactly will 2012 look like? It's a little early to predict in some ways. Roster movement can happen quickly in college basketball. Remember, at this time a year ago, Alabama suddenly lost two players who would have been seniors, with both Justin Knox and Demetrius Jemison choosing to transfer out in search of more playing time. Nothing that dramatic seems to be on the horizon for this year's team, but it is possible there could be attrition on the UA roster. It's the nature of the sport.

I remember I liked basketball when basketball wasn't cool.

I did not, I am a bandwagon basketball fan.  I have to watch it on mute because of the squeaking shoes.

I have been a Bama basketball fan since C. M. Newton was the coach. Winning or losing does not matter, I still support the Tide. However, I prefer winning.

I liked Alabama and C.M. Newton but he wouldn't give me a BB scholly. Auburn offered me a scholly to walk on and then 3 years full scholly but I didn't like Auburn so I wouldn't go. I ratherly stupid ended up in the Army. My draft number was 5. RTR!

A man of principles even back then.

Wimp Sanderson was the coach when I was at Alabama, so I've been a Bama Basketball fan since then.  I will always support the Tide, but I know nothing about basketball.

Ssmith, I agree with you about the squeaky shoes.  Luckily, you don't hear them on the radio feed which is how I listen to the games.

I remember watching Bama BB as a kid in the early 80s, when Wimp was coaching and there were players like Ennis Whatley, Bobbie Lee Hurt and Terry Coner.
