BSR- Practice Report: April 6, Spring Practice #10 |

Practice Report: April 6, Spring Practice #10The Alabama football team went back to work on Wednesday after one day off. We've had more than one day off here at the Bama Sports Report, but things will hopefully be back on track for the balance of the spring. The full pads practice was held outside in fantastic Tuscaloosa weather. Here's what you need to know: ( full article) Summary: -Jarrick Williams bumped Lester for first team grouping on D. -Injuries: Watkins (knee); Love (concussion); minor injuries: Dre (wrist); Fluker and Champman (gimpy? I assume lower body as they were limited and limping) -McCullough still has apparent lead at LT -Arie appears stuck in third position at RT -Full OL "depth chart" (caution is always to be used with that phrase and Bama football under CNS) is mentioned to some degree. I assume it was the focal point of the viewing period that the author was allowed. -No change to QB reps. Both appear to continue splitting time 50-50 with similar results.

McCullough, Douglas battle at tackle |

To see Aaron Douglas and Alfred McCullough standing together on the University of Alabama practice field, someone unfamiliar with the Crimson Tide's left tackle position might never guess the two are competing for the same job.
At 6-foot-7 and 275 pounds, Douglas is long enough and lean enough to pass for a tight end. McCullough, at 6-2 and 311 pounds, looks more like a guard than a tackle, and in fact has practiced some at guard in his career.
Whether or not either fit the ideal mold, however, matters little.
What matters more is that one of them will likely exit spring drills as the Crimson Tide's most reliable option at the most crucial position on the offensive line. Click here for link

20. Alabama
The run to the NIT title game was no fluke. Alabama finished 12-4 in conference play and has the core of its team back with Tony Mitchell leading the charge for coach Anthony Grant. Arkansas brings in a top recruiting class and Mike Anderson will have the Hogs in the mix, but the SEC West has to run through Tuscaloosa for the foreseeable future. More Praise from Cris Carter |

Here's a great article from Capstone Report about Duron Carter's decision to join Bama. Cris Carter gives rave reviews about Saban and the way he runs his program. And there's also a nice tidbit about AJ and Phillip Sim. Man the future looks so bright for Bama. Roll Tide! "Carter expounded on how blown away he was at how Saban’s program developed young men as people, not just as football players. Duron apparently has a food allergy of some sort, and upon their visit last weekend the Tide staff had already developed a program in place for him, citing a similar program they had arranged for Marcel Dareus." BR: Alabama Football: Last Year's Strengths and Weaknesses Versus This Year's |

Larry Burton (Syndicated Writer) This time last year the big questions were the defensive backfield and whether the linebacker corp could survive without Rolando McClain and a rehabbing Dont'a Hightower. The offense was supposed to go off without a snag. So comparing this year's Alabama squad's strengths and weaknesses to last year's team, do we see a good year or bad year? Click here for link

QuoteLet's just take the first three months of this year. This will be quick because, unfortunately, you already know these stories by heart: • Jim Tressel's emails, the coverup, Ohio State's Tat Five and the NCAA's inexplicable decision to let them play in the Sugar Bowl. • The Fiesta Bowl Financial Fiasco, which gave big-time ammunition to the critics of the BCS system. (By the way, the Fiesta Bowl will NOT be kicked out of the BCS, in my opinion.) Push Here

Brandon Gibson Ready To Step Up |

Good article about Brandon. I really hope he makes an impact this year. He seems like a great guy. And he could really be a leader. No sooner did Julio Jones decide to leave the University of Alabama a year early for NFL riches than Crimson Tide fans began to wonder just which wide receiver would get some, or all, of Jones' playing time. But while younger players such as Kenny Bell, who scored two touchdowns in UA's scrimmage Saturday, Kevin Norwood and DeAndrew White may be the center of water-cooler talk, Gibson isn't one to be forgotten.
Nor is he one to be deterred by doubters.Check out the whole story here. http://alabama.rivals.com/content.asp?CID=1208092
