I'm sure if he inserted a bonehead play like this many of you would call it a great play & blame the players for not executing it properly.

Clearly the QB wasn't ready for the snap, and he didn't execute the play properly.  If the QB were ready, obviously he throws a screen out to the receiver with an army of blockers in front of him, outnumbering the defense, and they easily get three yards for the first down. 

It's an option play, and the QB could run or throw a backwards pass to the receiver in the flat.  If the defense charges the receiver, he flips it over their heads to an open wide receiver behind them for a TD.

 

They were discussing on the radio that a Maine high school used the same play to win a game on the last play of the game.

Clearly they executed it properly.  I think this occurred back when CBW was their coach before he met CNS.
