Post by: hscoach on December 28, 2020, 02:32:54 PM
Alabama offensive coordinator Steve Sarkisian was named the winner of 2020 Broyles Award, during the 25th Anniversary Broyles Award Virtual Ceremony on Monday.

He had it rolling.   In my unedumicated opinion, he's a more complete OC than Kiffin.   He actually develops and teaches.  Kiffin did a mighty fine job of calling plays for us, but I don't think the did well at developing and teaching players to understand on their own.   Prime example - Jalen almost regressed between year 1 and 2.

He also seem to have a few change ups every game and they tended to be successful.

To me, Sark is very skillful at determining which play in our book will work best against the opposing D.  Plus as has been said, he adds a few new ones specifically designed to exploit the opposing D.  I can't really think of another OC we've had who did this as well as Sark does.

Kiffin had flashes of doing this but not to the extent Sark does.

If only we had a DC who could do the same....

Coach Sark would still be a head coach today if not for all the drinking in the past. I do think he will be again, and I am thankful that he has learned from his failures and is improving everyday. RTR!

Bingo!

Kiffin is a playcaller not a coach.

That is why he he has had limited success at all of his previous places of employment.

Kiffin has been at his best when at the OC/Asst Coach position.

He does not have the ability, or character, to manage an organization.

All that being said, I like to watch his offenses, but Sarkisian is a better playcaller as well.

We did have but  he is now the HC over at UGA doing a pretty good impression of Mark Richt...

Kirby has done fairly well for himself.   I didn't think they'd be all that good this year after almost their entire offensive line left and Fromm went with them.   They had little receiver talent last year between injuries and other circumstances which somewhat limited their offensive.   Kirby either has really bad luck with QBs or there's a fundamental flaw with the program there.  Not sure which it is.
