I had it paused while I posted the games for this week.  I will get caught up during halftime.

I'm at the game. The team is playing hard, but the young guys are making lots of mistakes. They need some time to play together.

The crowd is disappointing. Coleman is only about half-full, and mostly quietly. CAJ has brought in championship level talent, but people still won't show up and support the team.

Dazon Ingram has hit the floor hard multiple times tonight. Hope he survives the season.

71-56 Bama with 5:43 left. Bama finally pulling away and making some explosive plays. The crowd is finally showing some enthusiasm in response.

Hey B'Phil -- Welcome back to the US of A.

I've been back since June. Still readjusting. It was great to be in Coleman tonight though. It was my wife and daughter's first in-person Alabama athletics experience - a special night for me.

Once this team learns to play together, they are going to be very good. Unlike the last two years where there was no one who could be depended on to score, this team has multiple scorers. Sexton is the real deal, I'm just worried he believes the hype about himself a little too much. It felt like he and Ingram were both trying to establish themselves as the team leaders. Johnson's first two teams were much better than the individual players, hopefully he can manage a team of great to elite talents to do something special.

Thanks for the insights, phil.
Ingram is very talented, and it will be interesting to see how well he and the team gel this season.  I haven't seen Sexton play; maybe I can get over there for a game this season.

E-cred.   #+

Thanks for the live report.

CAJ said post-game that he recruited Sexton, Petty and Co. because of their "confidence."   (Honestly, he seemed reluctant to single them out, but was pressed by the press.)  He thought they could do just as well at home or away because of it.

On this game, CAJ said that it took the players a while to figure out that Lipscomb is a good team.   :lol2:

CAJ has experience coaching NBA players with big egos.  If anyone can get these kids to gel, he can.

Lipscomb is a good team.  They beat Mizzou and Florida Gulf Coast last year, might be a tournament team this year.  Garrison Mathews, their preseason All-Atlantic Sun Team guard, scored 25 points against Morehead State, 37 points against Emory, but only 15 points against Alabama.

The Good:

Bama wins 86-64
Sexton 22 points, 5 assists
Petty  14 points, 6 rebounds
Hall 10 points, 5 rebounds

The Bad:

MD should be doing this.   :(

The Ugly:

Bama outrebounded 47-40 despite size advantage
38%  Free Throws

Thanks for the on-site report, Phil. Have an e-cred.

2nd game in a row in the 80s. Gotta love that. Can't believe FT shooting was only 38%. That's horrible.  :(

Plenty of time to gel and get better. I'm buckled up!

Oy!! Don't think I can take another season of poor FT shooting.  Someone should do a study of the connection between poor FT shooting and the football team's field goal kickers. Maybe there is something in both their diets???????

12 for 32 on free throws.  We literally could have topped 100 points just by making more free throws.

It was a fun game to watch though.  Lots of monster dunks for our guys.
