HUGE pick up projected at Jack but might scoot inside if he plays well enough at MLB for Daphne. Of course rankings haven't come out yet for any guys but he's a major pick up also graduating in Dec so he will be an EE. Already had 14 sacks last year at DE, he's already massive for a HS recruit as well at 6'3 250 and on all the film I saw really is not only a defensive leader for Daphne but really plays with a mean streak and for his size he is surprisingly fast as well like I said he is a huge pick up whether he is a highly rated or not. I'm thinking he'll be an under the radar guy but we'll see HUGE pick up Chech he's a beast
107  Around Campus / The Quad / Aday discussion on: April 17, 2011, 08:09:13 AM
Hey guys GREAT Aday no one hurt. I wanna do this a little differently since y'all were able to watch it. So what I tell you won't be a surprise today LoL

DeQuan Menzie had another amazing scrimmage and Jarrick and Vinnie both had great games as well our secondary is SO much better at this point than where it was a year ago.

I think you guys all saw how good the pass rush and overall front 7 is gonna be both QBs were never comfortable in the pocket and got pressured all day and part of it was how great the secondary played to allow the front 7 to focus on pressure.

Our LB corps is absolutely ridiculously talented and deep both Hightower and Upshaw are beasts and we have so many more LBs that could START at a lot of other schools

Barrett Jones had a great day at LT really as good as can be expected for just learning the position TWO DAYS AGO AMAZING! He had a really tough assignment with Upshaw most of the time will it stick? We will see

All the recruits had a GREAT time including Lacey, Chris Black, Humphries, and of course our newest commitment Ryan Anderson he he

We have a workhorse on offense in Trent man WOW! He will have a special year

Alright do you guys have any questions for me or comments about what you saw?? Things you were impressed with? Or not? Let's have a discussion
108  Around Campus / The Quad / hey guys on: April 15, 2011, 09:23:49 PM
Hey guys just a quick heads up. It's been another crazy week with so much work lol again. I really hope you guys watching on ESPNU and those of you going have a great time and like what you see (I know you will) and trust me there will be some fireworks hopefully on offense and defense he he.

On recruiting its a HUGE weekend so there are a bunch of big time guys we really like coming in and at least 2 fball commits hopefully, one guy all of you should really be excited about is Daphne defender Ryan Anderson, he was a high motor guy last year at DE with 14 sacks and 38 TFL and a leader on the field, he's already a great LB size at 6'3 250 so this year he'll play MLB for Daphne this year. He is a BIG TIME HUGE under the radar guy who is excellent on film very impressive prospect and a physical freak.

Also heard there COULD be a bball commit by the end of the weekend so stay tuned on that as well.

I'll have you guys a full report after the game tomorrow
109  Around Campus / The Quad / Re: Good News on Trevor Lacey!! on: April 11, 2011, 12:06:30 PM
Is Kentucky still in the mix? I have been more concerned about them than the barn.

Heard they were heavily in the mix then fell out of contention after their run (kinda strange that success pushed them back, but Coach Cal and his staff was also not recruiting during that time & CAG & staff was at home for the 1st 3 rounds and was able to bring him in & show him the advantages of STAYING AT HOME) this is the news report that surfaced as well about UK being out of it, then after UK got eliminated, Coach Cal picked the recruiting efforts back up & got back in, but is a distant 3rd, he's pretty much set on staying in state I'm told & he just wants drama for his announcement which is why he came back out to the local media & said UK was in as well as UConn. He told me this though, every year 1 or 2 OTHER staffs are shocked about losing a kid her or there to UK & much of the recruiting Coach Cal & staff does close to bball NSD is secretive & private for that reason, but I think the staff feels pretty confident about landing Lacey, again this is what I was told pmull
110  Around Campus / The Quad / Re: Good News on Trevor Lacey!! on: April 11, 2011, 11:48:57 AM
yeah I have NO idea when he'll announce or commit (heard for a long time on the 13th since that's sort of like NSD for bball, first day to announce & sign LOI in the late period) but there is also talk of him possibly pushing it back to the ceremony when they present the state champ trophies I think on the 22nd, but if all goes well this weekend I'm hearing he might be one to add to the list I posted earlier of guys to watch, but not completely sure since it's been such a fluid situation. This is all coming straight from a bball assistant coachs' mouth (had lunch with today) so I'm feeling pretty good about it, like I said not a bball coach LoL so whatever he tells me I relay, but don't have a feel for the situation. I'm sure I would be more help if I was LoL but when I get an update I'll def share
111  Around Campus / The Quad / Good News on Trevor Lacey!! on: April 11, 2011, 11:25:12 AM
Just found out a little while ago about a few news notes on Lacey:

 - All he needs is passing grades on all his classes this current semester & he's well on his way, as well as 3 points higher on his ACT

 - He was scheduled to go visit AU this past weekend, but decided instead to stay at home, study & re-take his ACT (GREAT news I'm told if you know him personally, not likely to turn down a recruiting trip, especially a red carpet one the likes AU was likely planning)

 - He had offers to attend both Bama or AU next weekend, as well as UConn's NC ceremony (also this coming weekend) & he has decided to come to Bama and spend the weekend & attend A-Day

So if you're keeping up at home, of the 2 teams "said" to be his 2 leaders in the clubhouse, since this Summer, he's visited one school (Bama at LEAST 2 or 3 times for a few games, not completely sure) and the other school (AU) exactly 0 times, and to choose to come see a football spring game rather than celebrate with the national champions says VOLUMES to me, also tells you how effective CAG has been recruiting, he had the athleticism & now in this class he's adding the scoring. It is a very exciting time to be an Alabama basketball fan
112  Around Campus / The Quad / Some extras not in scrimmage notes on: April 10, 2011, 10:38:59 AM
Here's some extra stuff I didn't put in the scrimmage notes:

- Lamicheal Fanning took his ACT this past week, all he needs to qualify for school is 2 more points on it and he's confident he passed it, I will let y'all know when we know for sure, he wants the Bama nation to know that he's ready to enroll at UA and rarin to go on the fball field, and he's absolutely MASSIVE, a legit 6'7 1/2 almost 6'8 and added 15 more pounds of muscle, very large man

Also a few more big time visitors this weekend, Eddie Goldman on Tues, big DT from DC, and a number of visitors on Sat of course, hearing also that a few guys may leave Ttown as commits hopefully, a few to watch are Geno Smith, Barry J "Don't call me JR" Sanders, Dillon Lee, Durron Neal, to name a few, not certain all those guys will make it just yet

- Also on Calloway, it is sickening to see 1 branch off of 1 site (Rivals AU site) behaving in a manner of such bad judgement and disgust to allow a reporter to post ANYTHING pertaining to a story not true or substantiated, what Jeff Lee did throws him into the group of cesspool writers of sites like TMZ that just substantiate rumors with no factual evidence on whimsical notions and what he made was aVERY REAL ALLEGATION that the U of A and Tidesports site took VERY SERIOUSLY and did the due diligence JLee didn't and investigated and found NOTHING! It is such a sad state of delusion and denial that is prevalent right now in Lee County and at AU University. I posted about a week ago a couple twitter posts Jeff Lee posted TO Duron Carter after he committed to Bama and how furious it made me and now that coupled with this little incident seals the deal for me into believing what kind of a low life biased fan he really is and for a website, especially a respected one like Rivals who is owned by Yahoo, to EVEN BE ALLOWED to post a whole slander piece with NO evidence or NO proof whatsoever is beyond deplorable. I hope Rivals or better yet Yahoo takes notice of what kind of a liability he is to both the site and the companys' respect and well being and take immediate action against him.
113  Around Campus / The Quad / Last weeks practices and yesterdays scrimmage on: April 10, 2011, 10:02:22 AM
Good morning guys, sorry for being MIA this past week, had a flu bug at the 1st of the week and at the end of the week when I got home I was so worn out from getting over it, yesterday was the 1st day I felt back to normal, but it was still a struggle so I went home last night, watched "Casino" on Starz, then crashed.

So anyway wow was the scrimmage a lot more fun than the 1st, Saban called out the leaders on D and they def responded

1st to mention is DEFINITELY Hightower , MAN, he was an absolute monster yesterday, flew around making tackle after tackle, yesterday was a warning by him to the rest of the NCAA and SEC that he's back to the 08 DH form, no doubt that he's THE leader of this team and shows it as a VERY vocal leader all day. The other 2 standout LBs yesterday were CJ and Upshaw. It was easy again yesterday for Courtney because of the hard work of the DTs keeping the middle clogged. Dial got a lot more PT and really looked good, he's a massive body already

2nd the QB battle continues and I'll tell you through 2 scrimmages I'll stand by what I said about Sims, he looked REALLY good again yesterday, made great decisions etc and McCarron continued to struggle a little bit, his mental game still suffers a bit and I know the 4 TDs with 0 ints looked good on the stat line, bu he also got more reps in goal line sets and the TDs he had were not against the 1s, BOTH of Sims TDs were against the better D group and from further out. Sims really took some more steps forward this past week and the 1 int he had was a GREAT play off a tipped pass

Oh my, Saban came out and challenged his group, Dre especially and they really responded, Dre and Menzie were both impressive and Fulton and Milliner did a good job again yesterday as well, and the head turned yesterday was Vinnie Sunseri, he had a couple hits that reminded me of John Lynch (the Tampa Bay Buc Lynch) very impressive and delivers a serious smash on tackles. In the words of Mark Barron "He looked small to me 3 weeks ago, now nobody messes with him, he's a bad white boy with pads on" I'm expecting GREAT things from Vinnie in the future and wouldn't at all be surprised to see him work his way onto the field this year, knowing the D is DEFINITELY NOT a problem for him, just a very impressive fball player so far.

The O had more of a spread feel to it in the passing game yesterday and a lot of WR's had productive numbers. Maze continued to impress, really expecting a HUGE year out of him, Kenny Bell also was probably the best looking WR, a speed demon and great hands and D White had a good day as well. Hanks did a goo job yesterday exposing a lot of zone an catching a lot of passes he's the undisputed leader of the group and also wants a huge year, Sims found Vogler and he ha a few nice catches he's better after the catch as well very athletic, like I said though the most interesting development was the schemes and groupings etc an how the passing game was used, also bread and butter play the HB screen was used a lot and TR was amazing and to that end......

Man TR is so ready to smash some heads, very impressive again yesterday, had a long run similar to 08 Arky where he looked pinned down and squirted through for a good 18 yd gain, and the BEST RB yesterday was Lacy he had improved so much gonna really impress you guys at Aday, Dee and Fowler both are steadily improving as well, great group of RB's

The D was a LOT faster as a whole unit yesterday, starting to gel together and made it tough for the O all day, we're getting there guys really starting to become a great team I feel
114  Around Campus / The Quad / New Walk-on to announce - He's a good'un on: April 04, 2011, 06:43:11 PM

Taylor Morton started at OLB 2 years at Bibb County. In 2009, the Choctaws advanced to the quarterfinals of the Alabama High School Athletic Association Class 4A playoffs. Last season, they made it to the seminfinals. Morton was a leader on a stubborn Choctaws' defense that shutout six of 10 regular season opponents. Bibb County held the opposition to less than 10 points in nine of its 14 games.

Here is a great story from last year on his faith & why he is playing football - Click here for link

He's 6'2 195 so he'll likely start out at S

"I can tell you that both JuCo guys looked impressive but both also have a ways to go but both served the major purpose of havoc in the middle and the pass rush was something fierce thanks to both those guys which was awesome to see since we really lacked it last year. "

I had read reports that Williams set out the scrimmage due to his knee.  Are you saying that he played in the full scrimmage and excelled?

I'm sorry I meant they have looked impressive, he sat out the majority of the practice, came in some on goal line but really didn't see much PT, Quinton Dial got the lion's share of backup behind Chapman and Ivory also saw some time behind him. We are excited to get to see Jesse in action but understand don't want to push it. Sorry for the misunderstanding
116  Around Campus / The Quad / Re: Friday practice and scrimmage on: April 03, 2011, 10:33:49 PM
Sorry about some of the "todays" I changed some but I wrote some yesterday on my laptop notebook and copied it on here now that I FINALLY got a chance LoL VERY busy weekend

Also Dillon Lee (LB recruit) is very close to committing (wink wink) and Kyron Samuels (Chris Samuels' nephew) was at scrimmage he'll likely commit as soon as he gets a Bama offer but he's definitely starting to blow up in his recruiting but he's a HUGE Bama fan likely a college Center on the OL
117  Around Campus / The Quad / Friday practice and scrimmage on: April 03, 2011, 10:11:59 PM
Hey guys, 1st of all on Alex Watkins some GREAT news and the media found out after I told y'all his injury looked VERY serious, but luckily it was only a severe strain and a small tear so he will sit out the rest of Spring and likely with good rehab (our team is the best in the country no doubt about it) he'll be back before the season, sadly he's gonna miss the practice time that is crucial. So now is DEFINITELY the chance for Adrian Hubbard to impress and step up, I'll tell you guys that he has impressed but now he's really got his chance.

For Friday practice we really prepped the groups, not a whole lot of news or good juicy info just walkthroughs and LOTS of schmoozing by players LoL to Duron Carter and Daddy Cris but not much to report.

Now for the scrimmage there was LOTS to report so here we go:

- OMG!! This is the best group of OL we have that I've seen at Bama and at this stage they are ridiculously scary looking NO DOUBT!! what our offense will be about and we will run at will on any opponent. Coach Stoutland has REALLY turned some of these guys into mammoth OL. DJ Fluker was the most impressive I've seen an OL look since Andre Smith, not kidding, he was a pancake machine today, got a few hoots and hollers from Coach Stout and constant praising all scrimmage from CNS. McCollough and Douglas are in a battle for LT, both were excellent today McCollough gave up 2 sacks but those were both on long pass plays. Aaron was a brick wall man he even stood Upshaw straight up on 1 play and put him on his butt, haven't seen that all Spring or anyone else do that to 41. Steen is really starting to look like a Bama OG, working under Coach Stout has helped him tremendously. Our OL was really amazing and you saw it in the rushing stats.

- Both QB's honestly did pretty well, I'm not gonna lie to y'all, after the 1st scrimmage I PERSONALLY liked Sims and McCarron was still very impressive, just got the feeling of a leader from him and under pressure he made some great reads, some dump offs and showed poise in the pocket and MAN is his release quick. I know his stat line had 1 more INT, but TRUST ME 1 was a Champ Bailey type play by my new frontrunner for most improved John Fulton (I'll tell you about him later) and he threw against him most of the scrimmage was brutal TRUST ME. McCarron held on a little long to the ball and got sacked a few times and you saw how great his arm strength is but as is the case with his gunslinger mentality he forced a little too much at times, paid for it with the int and instead of progressing through reads a few plays got cold feet and slung it deep regardless of coverage, needless to say we have lots of great film to break down on McCarron in game situations to give him feedback on, Sims as well, but he just to me really came to play Saturday and scrimmaged VERY well, several coaches were impressed and if he keeps it up he'll win the job no doubt about it.

- All the WR's looked pretty good Saturday and again I'll tell you Saban closed out the weekend with a HUGE addition that will DEFINITELY shore up the hole left by Julio in catching and blocking (he's also a phenomenal blocker as well) but all the guys looked good Saturday, we have some very fast guys at WR, Bell continued to impress as did Maze. Maze and both QBs have created a bond and he will factor in heavily into the offense in different ways as well as Blake Sims both guys had more stats than were listed by using them in different sets (1 had an impressive long run). Bowman also had a few pretty spectacular catches and was left out of the stat sheet (hush hush LoL finished with 70 or so receiving yds I think). Big Mike Williams also struggled more than we thought he would, but to his credit most of his work was blocking today in heavier sets and he did well also Fowler was put at H back a few times and had a 1 handed TD catch, he's another guy I expect to be a jack of trades player to factor in a lot of different ways into the offense. We also have a number of different threats as receivers and the CHERRY ON TOP OF THE CAKE was adding Duron Carter!! WOOOOOW I'M EXCITED!

- I told you guys the ILB group is ridiculous and we saw it big time yesterday. We are more confident that Hightower is back to his TF and before the injury form. On one of the sacks he recorded Sims had to take a moment when he said the look he saw in DH's eyes was scary. He's definitely BACK! Also Trey really stepped up and impressed today he's learning on the fly and like I said before very close to a clone of Hightower. CJ Mosley also was impressive made some great reads and really stepping up as a leader on the 2nd team group. And finally Upshaw was Upshaw fast aggressive, mean and athletic really worked on the upper body strength trying to become THE absolutely perfect Jack LB for our defense. Again ridiculous depth very impressive all around and also a good bit of tape to break down and analyze. Nico also is really pushing to get into the rotation he made a few great reads and stepped into the hole several times off a block we saw a lot of great things from him today.

- When John Fulton was 1st being recruited he had a nickname we heard about "Bam Bam, because he hits like a safety" his HS coach told us and today we saw it, his int was off an earhole shot he had on Norwood AFTER Norwood caught the curl route and jammed him and then popped him so hard he knocked the ball up and caught it, shades of the way Javy popped some WR's and he was a blanket on his WR all day really developing well and turned a corner under Saban's tutelage and man oh man did he impress his stat line was also impressive, it's great to see another CB Really stepping up

- The DL had a pretty good day, the 2 best looking guys today were D. Square and Chapman, but we got a LOT to review on tape I guess it was sort of a dominating performance by the OL's, I can tell you that both JuCo guys looked impressive but both also have a ways to go but both served the major purpose of havoc in the middle and the pass rush was something fierce thanks to both those guys which was awesome to see since we really lacked it last year. Chapman had a nice day too with 3 tackles, all TFL not sure why his stats weren't included but you know he's the leader of the group. Also 2 more sacks unaccounted for was Ed Stinson who also looked very good and also raw enough that needs more work but he's really starting to look like a lean mean DE.

- Y'all saw the rushing stats so y'all KNOW the whole group is impressive, TR didn't get much PT today. Lacy was a beast, he did what we asked and attacked the hole and really was impressive he's improved foot speed and balance and his bashing style is still there, he's grabbed onto the back-up role and is holding on tight. Also we got a lot of great reps for Dee and Goode and got to see Dee a little more in an expanded role and is still getting a crash course and today took a large step. He also showed a good bit of backfield blocking skill which is also very welcome to see for a TF.

- Special teams is still struggling a bit. Cade was the best looking kicker and Jay Williams looked pretty good at punter but it's a group of guys who are still very raw so there's a lot of work to do with them.

- Vinnie Sunseri was also left out of the stat sheet for a reason I'm assuming played S and some dollar nickel and dime DB, VERY impressive at both and he also had some pops

- GREAT 1st scrimmage lots of stuff to work on and a scary good looking team already, lots of hungry guys as well

Any questions?

Duron Carter to transfer to Alabama
By Joe Schad
ESPN
Archive

Former Ohio State wide receiver Duron Carter committed to transfer to Alabama on Saturday, his father, Cris Carter, said.

"We just met with Coach [Nick] Saban and he's committed," Cris Carter said. "It's a combination of the coaching and the structure and for Duron's maturity. All of those things make it a good match."

Cris Carter said Duron, who played at Coffeyville (Kan.) Community College last season after leaving Ohio State, plans to enroll at Alabama in June and will be academically eligible to play immediately.

Duron Carter, 6-feet-5, 210 pounds, had 44 catches for 690 yards and 10 touchdowns for Coffeyville.

"I want to win a national championship," Duron Carter said. "I believe in what Coach Saban and the players are doing. This is a great program."

Carter said he also considered Oregon, LSU, Miami and Auburn.

Alabama has a need at wide receiver, particularly with the departure of Julio Jones to the NFL.

Duron Carter began his career at Ohio State, like his father, and caught a touchdown as a freshman but left because of academic issues.

Cris Carter, now an ESPN NFL analyst, had a 16-year NFL career and finished as the league's second all-time leading receiver with 1,101 receptions for 13,899 yards and 130 touchdowns, which also ranks second-most in NFL history.

HUUGE HUGE HUGE MAJOR COMMITMENT!!!! This means Bama fills our needs at EVERY position with a JuCo MONSTER. He will START next year at WR & fill Julio's void rather nicely!!No fear the numbers will work. TRUST CNS!!!
