Good morning and safe travels to all of y'all that are on the roads today... It was nice to see two swimming world records broken last night.  One by a British guy and the other by a USA woman that broke her own record going away...

Yeah, that Ledecky girl is the real deal!

I didn't get to see but I enjoy knowing our world athletes are like our Military. They will win when you give them what they need to go do their job. RTR!

Good morning. Coffee

Spent the day relaxing with family, then watched the Olympics. Can't say the opening ceremonies were great!  Lots of color and lights, but none of the originality seen when China hosted. Maybe the games will be better.

Mrs 2 and I felt the same way, but like you said, the games should be exciting.

Looks like we might get a break in the weather today. Lord at the storms we've been having! I hope we do get that break since I will be masterfully wielding my mashie niblick.  Cheesy

Never heard it called that before.  Huh?

I just watched the Ladies' 8 crew race.  U.S.A. is running on a 10 year undefeated streak and they didn't disappoint today winning by a boat length and a half.  They race again Saturday for the final's.  Hope they can win Gold again for the third consecutive Olympics...  Pray

Don't work too hard.  Can retirement be far away for you??

We got home without an problems last night.  Just a few rain showers near Birmingham and again near Tupelo.  Of course, the Atlanta traffic was horrid.

NALT, here's a tip for trips to the zoo.  Take along a plastic (garbage) bag.  Apparently most zoos feed the animals from such a bag, so the critters are real attuned to the sound of a plastic bag being ruffled.  Just pull it out of your backpack and make a little noise.  The animals will climb the cage to see it.

Note: Be sure the cages are secured!

We got rain this morning and it is so pretty. Nice and cool and counting one day at a time now. Hey 2 don't work to hard and Chechem hope your vacationing some more. I know you deserve all you can get teaching all those years. When I sit around and my back is hurting sure wishes I would have went to the university and paid for it. Cost wasn't that high back in the early 70's. lol, RTR!

We need rain here.  Our neighbor told me it didn't rain the entire time we were in Virginia, and it hasn't rained this week.  Our grass is crispy.

I was fortunate to attend college, Ricky.  There wasn't much depth in the decision to take my road; might have easily followed my friends who went to Vietnam.  We make decisions as young people that set the direction of our lives.  Sometimes we just get lucky, sometimes not.  The old adage: "IF YOU DON'T KNOW WHERE YOU'RE GOING, ANY ROAD WILL GET YOU THERE."  Then we make the most of it.

Lots of gold for American swimmers last night. Phelps won in the relay and the breast stroke. He now has a total of 21 gold medals. Ledecky is 14 for 14 in gold medals for her career.

Applause E-Cred e-cred for this one Chechem because your so right. That was my idea. No going to auburn but going to the Army showed my ignorance,  Stars, because I could still have been an Alabama fan. I really that "Any road will get you there."  Laughing, RTR!

Hope you guys are okay.  We need rain, so send some this way!

Last night the US gathered more gold.  In case you missed it, the women's relay won in a comeback.  Ledecky came from behind in the last leg of the relay to win GOLD.
