The guides were cleaning fish, and a big Nurse Shark arrived to help chomp.

He was at least 7' long (150-175 lbs).

The catch: Black Grouper, Hogfish, Dog Snapper, and Crevalle Jack.

For those of you who flyfish, check out the Bonefish (under the bird, WV; eyeroll).

Looks like all you need there is a throw net to have a very short and productive fishing trip.

That's the difference between fishing and catching.  You are correct, sir.

That's a neat picture, was the shark around when the bird was there?

Oh yeah, that bird and 3 of his close friends.  Nurse Sharks are no problem for birds.  They feed on the bottom.  Just fun to watch the action around the dock.  There was also a Southern Stingray (75 lbs) and a Spotted Eagle Ray (50 lbs) circling at the same time.

Cousin Ray lost an eye in Vietnam. Well, he really didn't lose it, it was shot out by the Viet Cong. "Lost an eye" conotes pictures of people searching for it. None of that. Ray is a gunsmith! More later, when Chech can post!

do they keep those down there ? are they the same as the ones we catch here ?
it's hard to tell from the picture / crappy monitor
we call ours Jack Crevalle but nobody eats them here .
I know in other areas around the GOM some people say they grill them ...
taste like chicken ?
