It will hit Decatur within the next 30 minutes.

My daughter at UNA in Florence has been cleared to leave the dorm basement.

I'm like you Chech, mobile home parks seem to be a magnet for tornadoes. Pray

I don't know why anyone would stay in a mobile home. The path of this storm has been known for at least 24 hours.

Limestone County put in several community shelters since the 2011 storms.

Hope all my CRS buddies in Alabama and Mississippi are safe and secure.

Looks like the bulk of the storm is sliding to the Southeast of Nashville.  We've had rain, but little else.  Looks like we might have dodged this one.

Seeing pictures of the Tupelo tornado brings back a lot of memories for me.  My mother was born in Tupelo and grew up in Corinth.  She lost several family members in the Tupelo tornado of 1936.  As a result she was deathly afraid of storms.  My dad worked night shifts for many years, and I can remember many nights when  Momma would gather us three kids up and head for the root cellar behind the house.

One storm can change a life or take one.
Best news today was this Tupelo storm was a small tornado, and the damage wasn't widespread.  It was tragic for some, but nothing like the ones last night in Arkansas.

HUNKER!

I can remember back in the fiftys, my Dad stopped the car and said "let me show you something" we had left a rural area north of Griffin Ridge that morning to go in to Tuscaloosa to get some seeds and fertilizer. We walked out into the woods overlooking a stream and he pointed out an oak tree with a knot on it. He said when he was growing up  Mother nature took out her vengeance on the area and drove a 2x4 into that oak tree . The 2x4 was 8 feet long and he said he saw it when both ends were visible, and the oak was 4 foot thick! Now, all that was visible was a KNOT! He said , next time your Mom says head for the cellar, GO, and take your friends with you! I will never forget it, lesson learned!

Wow, I hope everybody is out of the path of this stuff. Has anybody heard anything about damage in either Walker or Marion counties?
