Thanks everybody.  This trip has been amazing.  I never dreamed that I would be able to visit Alaska like I have for the last 5 weeks.  And the bet part about it is that I got paid to come here.  Today looks to be absolutely beautiful up here too so that's good.  Hopefully I'll get to be outside enjoying the pacle a bit more.

Good morning folks.  This is my next-to-last day on Kodiak.  I'll go into the office around noon today to shut down my equipment, pull all hard drives from the server, switch/router, and laptop, package everything up for shipment home.  Tuesday morning I'll go to the office to pick it all up and haul it to the shippers.  I then board the plane for home on Tuesday afternoon and arrive back in Huntsville around mid-morning on Wednesday.  I have had a really wonderful time here but 1. It ain't home. and 2.  I'm ready to get back to the family.

33 days til kickoff. Believe it or not, the NFL HOF preseason game is this week. I smell college football right around the corner.

We have a house full.  LF's 2 sisters and my nephew are here.  It's a big house, and we're using every inch of it.

Ricky, I don't follow HS football too closely anymore.  My nephews are out of HS now (and my BiL who is a coach doesn't do football anymore).  I haven't been to a game in at least 3 years.

Yes.  I got to see the interceptor launch.  IT. WAS. AWESOME!

We've had RAIN all night.  It's supposed to come and go all day.  Nothing severe since about 8pm yesterday.  Should help the grass grow.

This is an explanation of my work trip to Kodiak.

Interesting.  My father's career in Huntsville mostly centered around missile defense.  He was an early laser researcher, including work on laser tracking and targeting systems, and work on Reagan's "Star Wars" program aimed at shooting down missiles from space.  He has a couple of patents, but most of what he did was top secret.
