"We understand that we played extremely well and we had achievement," LSU coach Les Miles said Tuesday at a speech in Birmingham benefiting the Changed Lives Christian Center. "Now there's one banner we didn't get to hang, and frankly, that's for future opportunities. Anybody that has three national championships, that's just one too many."
That last comment was a good-natured joke about Alabama's Nick Saban. Even before talking, Miles couldn't escape Alabama as emcee Paul Finebaum pretended to introduce Saban by offering flowery compliments before roasting Miles.
The truth is, Miles believes LSU's embarrassing 21-0 loss to Alabama in the BCS Championship Game will serve as motivation for 2012....
